This is a very nice quality pellet grill. It came in the box and was not difficult to assemble at all. For the most part I am impressed with the quality of the materials and the overall looks. Even the wheels are good quality and should last a long time. There were no instructions included in the box but they were readily available on the Homedepot.com website so this wasn't a big deal. Assembly would be easier if you had instructions though. Behind the hopper is a on off knob that is used to clean out the hopper. This is not identified in the instructions and it isnt obvious what this is for until after you dump all the pellets onto the ground :-)

The Monument pellet grill arrived in a large box and required about 2 hours to assembly taking my time and following the instructions. It was pretty straight forward but definitely needed the assistance of my wife when it came to getting the grill on to its base. The grill appears well-made and really like the overall construction as well as the fit and finish. Another nice feature are the large wheels on one end and caster wheels with locks on the other, making wheeling around the grill super easy since I plan to grill in one area of my patio then store in another when not being used. As with most pellet grills you will need to be near an electrical outlet or be prepared to run and extension cord as the control box and motorized auger need power. I really like the digital read out on the control box and the settings go from smoke all the way up to high for searing. There are two included meat probes with a nice port on the side of fire box to run the wires. The probes work nicely and give accurate feedback of temperatures inside the meat. The large hopper holds a lot of pellets and the motorized auger works great at feeding the burning cup. While the assembly instructions for the grill were good instructions on its operation were lacking, especially for someone like me new to pellet grills. I had to refer to some online research of pellet grills to get a good feel for their operation. It would have been a nice touch to include some cooking and smoking recipes as well. Pellet grills require a bit more preparation compared to propane grills. One of those steps is having to empty the ashes from the burning cup and prime it by putting a pyramid of pellets before each use. To accomplish this you must take the cooking grid off as well as oil guide plate and the fire block board. It only takes a few extra minutes but something that must be done each use. There is a learning curve when using pellet grills. I purchased a 20# bag of hardwood pellets that lasted several uses. I have tried slowing cooking with added smoke on a pork shoulder and chicken that turned out absolutely delicious. I did try searing some steaks and could not get the grill quite hot enough even on the highest setting. Perhaps with some trial and error I can get that perfected. Overall, I am quite pleased with the Monument pellet grill. It's a great addition to grilling meats while imparting great flavor.

Let me first start off my saying this is my first pellet grill. I’ve been a charcoal guy my whole life. Something to be said for having that charcoal taste. With that being said, this grill is purely a learning curve for me. Every since my neighbor swore by them a year ago and I’ve had multiple cookout samples from his grill, he definitely convinced me to get one. So first let discuss the assembly. The instructions are pretty basic with majority steps are pictures only, but easy easy to follow. I managed to assemble mine in roughly 1hr. I will suggest you have a 12” screwdriver on hand to screw some of the screws in very tight wall spots (see pictures). You will need another set of hand to mount the grill to the base. I did not and had to remove the door to reduce the weight enough to lift it on top. As for the cooking side of things I havve to say I love the way it cooked my ribs and the overall color of the meat! This grill has a few neat features like the release knob to empty the extrs pellets in the hopper out when your done cooking and also an adjustable flow wheel directly over the flame box for direct searing if you choose. Now I do have a few negatives. First is the fact that the manual doesn’t cover enought about assembly nor some features like the two I just mentioned (I had my neighbor explain them to me). Secondly During my first cookout the grill shutdown and displayed an ERL error which basically meant I needed more pellets and the gril requires you to unplug and reconnect power to get re-started. Again, this is one of those things I’ve learned as a newbie, but it would of been nice to design some kind of warning of low hopper status in my opinion. So note to self, get in the habit of checking the hopper every hour you check your meat. Overall a very solid pellet grill and would recommend it, but also recommend newbies to read this review carefully to ease your first run.
