AnswersThe actual grille area is 23" W x 24 1/2" H; the depth is 1". The bracket arm extends 2" from the outer edge of the grill. The installed width with brackets (outer edge to outer edge) is 27 1/4". Top to bottom (outer edge) of installed bracket is 19". You can see this grille and other options at goodbarsecurity.com.

AnswersI would not use screws. The bolts that come with the door grille are sized to fit the mounting brackets and are the right length to go through the bracket hole and door with about 3/4" on the other side to attach the wing nut. The head of the bolt is a little over a half inch wide and keeps the bolt from being forced through it. I found the bolts to be perfect for installation.

Perfect; just what I needed for my home. Great quality and price. Personally my door is dark chocolate/espresso brown, with a window rin the center - so my BF spray painted the bar brown to match. It looks great and I rest easy knowing my front door is now secure. Wonderful.
