Q:Instead of a "swing away" open is there a model that glides open? I want to use in the hvac rm and need to ventilate the room more but the hot water pipes are in front of the window and the swing away would hit the pipes. Glide gates seem appropriate.

A:  We do not have a gliding model but if the window is not being used for an emergency escape then you could use our Removable model. That way you could remove the bar when you need to access the window. It secures with 2 padlocks.

    Q:Can these be mounted on the outside of the window? Will they withstand weather? I am looking for breakage protection on two basement windows that are close to the ground outside.

    A:  Our complete program is designed to be installed on the inside of the home or building but yes, you can mount our security bars on the outside of the house. When customers mount the security bars on the outside of the house, usually they are permanent models. This means that they will never open once you install them. If the basement windows are not needed for emergency escape then this is an option. We recommend installing our bars on the inside of your windows allowing the bars to open (our swing away model) so you can get out if needed in case of an emergency or even open them to clean the windows.

      A:  Hello, you have two options for a window that is 63 in. in height. You can install our security bars vertically but which model would depend on the width of your window. This means that the hinged model will swing towards you and up. You can only secure the hinged models with a padlock when they are installed vertically. The second option is for a 2 bar installation (see attached image) and for a window height of 63 in. we recommend two E bar's which are 31 in. in height. If you need any further guidance, let us know.

        I did not expect much from this product due to its price. Surprisingly good quality and thick steel. Easy to install. I had an issue with one of the parts. I called the manufacturer on a sunday and left a message. They called me back in 30 mins and sent the missing part right away. Awesome quality product with good service. They may be a small family owned business but they rival top tier american companies. Top tier Canadian manufacturer.

        It came as brand new - excellent. The design is beautiful.I live on the 4th floor, do not think someone will break in, still wanted extra security to feel safer. While I will be asleep, if someone does attempt, I will have enough time to flee and call the police. Now, I wish the window gate should be: 1. There should be 3 hinges, especially one in the middle, also the hinges should be the same as the door hinges ( unexposed ) to the viewers once is closed. 2. There should be 2 holes for locks, should not be just one in the center ( the top and bottom can be bent inward ) With 2 lock - holes, one @ top and bottom, the window gate door will be held more secure. Again, I live on the 4th floor, thieves won't be able to climb all the way up to my floor, they could descend from the roof but perhaps not likely.I still like your product, it gives me extra and good sense of safety. I hope my above suggestion does not confuse the readers.Thank you very much !!!

        The only thing is you need to purchase a lock for it to serve it's ultimate purpose of keeping people from coming through your window. Without the lock, you can easily push the gate part open.

The box was damaged, indicating it was the shipper's and not the manufacturer's fault. A friend who does ornamental iron work straightened the bars and repainted them.
