In response to the frequently asked question: ‘’can we leave our docks in the water for the winter’’? … There’s really no clear cut answer, however we strongly recommend taking them out. It’s not the freezing of the water that can damage your dock and floats; it’s the actual ice movement. So as a general rule, wherever lakes or rivers freeze over, it is strongly suggested that all docks be removed from all lakes and rivers, for the winter. No matter the dock or float model, brand or composition; whoever decides NOT to remove their dock from the water for the winter, is definitely taking a risk. You can have information on that subject on our web site: https://www.multinautic.com/en/support/technical-guides/ Hope this helps.
2'' x 8'' x 16' lumber is the prefered material for the frame, composite boards are not strong enough for the framing as it will bend. You can still use composite boards for the decking, and I would add one or two more central support for proper spacing as composite bosrds are much softer and require a 16'' c.c. support.
