An honest review. The utility of this item is good. There is definitely a need to store items above the usable space... but this thing requires perfect measuring (which I did) even in the X pattern to ensure I had a perfect square. Nonetheless, even with a perfect square, the vertical L-shaped rods did not fit properly when trying to assemble the rack. The instructions are subpar and very vague. I was left with flipping the top pieces various times to get it to align properly. Overall, I feel like it does what's intended but be ready to be a bit frustrated while installing it. Thanks for reading.

Can’t believe I waited so long to get one.
This product was very easy to install, but it does take some time. Be patient.
When installing the vertical pieces, be sure to screw both sides for added support. I also installed the vertical arms right where I bolted the angle bracket to the ceiling.
While the installation was simple, four of the lag bolts broke. Luckily, there were four extra bolts in my kit, so it’s fine. I highly recommend you go and buy 12 of your own lag bolts. This is the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of five

Easy to assemble, but the metal isn't as thick as I was expecting. It will hold what I need to store, but I would be concerned if I pushed the 600lb limit. Great use of otherwise unusable space over garage door.

The design of this storage rack is good but the manufacture and quality control are horrible.
When attempting to install the horizontal shelf rails onto the vertical supports, it is impossible to slide them into position in the slotted holes. The pins on the rails are too short and too thick.
The instructions say to use a rubber mallet to seat the rails but that does not work. A 3 pound sledge wouldn't even get them to seat properly.
Returned to store and purchased a different brand.

This is a good overhead rack. As others have pointed out, the hardest part was determining the studs in the drywalled ceiling in the garage. As you can see from the pictures, I ended up using my son's "magnetic rocks" that we had bought at one of the science museums to see where the studs were. Once you get that figured out, then the rack goes up pretty easy. Also, best to put the main frame together on the floor, and then attach the vertical members to the ceiling. You will need two people to mount this. Also, the steel grates that form the floor don't fit exactly flat. However, once you load it up, you should be fine. I ended up using some plastic lock ties to hold the grates in place.

This ceiling storage rack is excellent though a little challenge to install. The rack is really two 48" x 48" racks together and in fact the installation instructions are just for one 48" x 48" not the combined 96" x 48" rack. The rack was delivered in a heavily damaged box that was repaired with shipping tape. None of the parts were damaged but one bag of bolts and nuts were missing and there was an extra unrelated large part in the box. I called the Service number on the instructions and they immediately FedEx'd the missing bolts and nuts (plus extras) - however it resulted in a five day delay on the installation. The challenge was the center vertical supports because there are two supports on each center truss bracket which need to allow for the bolts/nuts on each - a space was needed to be created. The instructions did not address this. I fully assembled the rack on the garage floor to learn the best way to install it before actually doing it from the ceiling. I found that the best way to do the center supports was to have extra washers between each piece - specifically: bolt, washer 1, vertical support for right half, washer 2, center truss bracket, washer 3, vertical support for left half, washer 4, nut. This created enough space at the bottom of the vertical supports for the cross bars in all directions. This rack really holds a lot - make sure you use a good stud finder if your ceilings are sheet rocked.
