Not at all as pictured. Mosty fine plastic webbing and little straw. Easy for paws to get tangled. Was hoping to use it to cover mud for a dog run. Useless.

A day after unrolling several blankets over fresh topsoil, we discovered a small snake entangled in the plastic mesh. The trapped snake was totally immobilized, waiting to die of dehydration or starvation. I carefully freed the snake by snipping the plastic netting off, mesh strand by mesh strand. Afterwards, we rolled up every blanket and burned it. We used plain straw instead. I will never use this treacherous material again. This is a danger to wildlife.

I was expecting a thick mat of hay, similar to what's shown in the picture. Instead it's strands of hay thinly woven into a plastic mesh. For $50 a roll, it's a shameful rip-off.

These kinds of products will, mark my words--in a very short time--be banned. The sun breaks the polypropylene (plastic) into....microplastics that then leach into the soil and water. Why use such a product? Microplastics do nothing for your soil, and then wind up in animals that eat them inadvertently (birds) and in our groundwater, which, unfortunately we are now drinking. Microplastics are in most municipal water sources. The plastic mesh can also small, beneficial animals (frogs, toads). Find an all-natural product instead. My photo, two years after application, is not of this specific product, but essentially the same thing, minus the straw. The plastic does not all photodegrade, it gets chopped up by mowers, etc.

Dangerous to wildlife getting tangled in and flimsy quality. At this point I am literally letting the straw fall from netting and am trying to figure out another solution for its use?

The product was not as advertised. It was loose straw/hay rolled up loose on plastic chicken wire. When unrolled, the straw/hay was found not to be secured to the wire at all. Very bad product. Actually, not usable at all.
