Trust NDS for proven, durable solutions that work, and support every step of the way

The NDS Flo-Well is a manufactured dry well that is an easy to install and sustainable solution for storm water runoff. Used independently or as part of a larger storm water management system, Flo-Well units collects, retains and filters storm water naturally through subsurface, reducing pollutants and helping to replenish ground water tables by discharging storm water on site. NDS Flo-Well is easy to install, offering an alternative to a traditional dry well. No heavy equipment required.
  • California residents
  • Protect property from water damage by collecting, detaining, and infiltrating stormwater runoff
  • Flo-Well Dry Wells are ideal for both residential and commercial locations including yards, playgrounds, golf courses, and wash-down areas
  • Connect to 4 in. Sewer and Drain Pipe through top cover knockout; 12 side-panel knockout points connect to 4 in. Sewer and Drain and Schedule 40 Pipes; knockout points stay securely in place if not needed
  • Gravel-free interior provides 250% greater water holding capacity than comparable gravel-filled dry wells
  • The Flo-Well Dry Well can be buried or stacked up to 8 ft. deep and supports pedestrian traffic including lawn tractors
  • Side panels, when assembled, form a 24 in. dia. X 24 in. tall cylinder; with addition of cover the overall height is 28-3/4 in. with 50 gallons storage capacity
  • Special ribbed design on side panels adds structural strength for long-lasting durability; no need to pack gravel inside
  • Thirty 1 in. knockout weep holes provide additional infiltration capacity, simply punch out with a firm tap using a hammer and wrap Flo-Well Dry Well with filter fabric wrap (sold separately) to prevent soil intrusion. Use a bottom panel (sold separately) to the Flo-Well Dry Well to prevent soil erosion or provide a base for a sump pump

  • Comes with 3 side panels and top cover, unassembled
  • Flo-Well Dry Well is made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) using a combination of virgin and recycled content treated with UV inhibitors to prevent fading and cracking
  • Use with additional Flo-Well Dry Well components such as the Bottom Panel, Surface Drain Inlet with 6 in. Grate, and Filter Fabric Wrap; use additional Flo-Well Dry Well Kits to increase detention and infiltration
  • Use with a Pop-Up Drainage Emitter to discharge collected water at a point of release
  • Use with EZ Drain™ Gravel-Free French Drain System for additional detention and infiltration capacity, or in high groundwater situations
  • Onsite stormwater management protects the watershed downstream, and limits excess runoff which can lead to negative impacts such as erosion, pollution, and flooding

will this work for a washer?

I presume you're asking about using it as a ground percolation device for water from a washing machine that would be separate from your septic system. It functionally should work but this specific drainage device is not approved for any type of permitted drainage structure. Not knowing where you live, I presume that you want to create subsurface drainage for your wash water because it is not allowed to be 'surface drained' (?). It would be necessary to check with your local planning office to find out if it is permissible to dispose of this water without processing it through a full, permitted, septic system.

can this be installed under concrete pad?

I would say yes. This unit is placed underground and have water drain into it. You want to make sure there is enough room, gravel and if you wish drain line to allow the water drain. Placing a concrete pad over the top should not cause a problem. However, if you ever need to dig up the well, you will need to deal with the pad.

Can you use cement on top of this

I suppose, as long as you provide an access pipe/plate for the top opening to add enzymes, etc. as needed. I wouldn't drive over it unless it's rebar reinforced. Be careful when planning this.

Possible but assume the bottom of the well will be 4ft below grade and probably muddy when you try to clean it out. I would not try this. Too much to go wrong including debris never making it to the dry well and getting stuck in the pipe.

This can be used in as a reservoir for a pondless waterfall. I would suggest using the optional bottom panel (NDS # FWBP24) as well. You can also use a waterproof silicone to seal up the edges to create a watertight connection.

The material used is the big difference. The dry well is a hard, durable and ridged plastic. Trash cans are a much soft plastic and could collapse under the weight of the soil. If you drill holes in the trash cans it will also weaken the structure of the trash can. I would not recommend the trash cans, but you can try it.

I ran into the same problem here in Kansas City. I just ordered mine from the website and had it delivered. It only took about 5 days to get to me.

Not required, but you may consider using one depending upon application. Without knowing full application of what you are using this for, cannot make a solid recommendation.

About how much gravel would I need to surround the basin?

Asked by Dan April 23, 2020

Answers

I used 12 inch around the sides and 12-18 inch below the dry-well of 1.5 inch granite ( not recommended to use river rock ). I purchased the “optional” bottom as well. Additionally I lined everything with the recommended fabric; filled rock between the dry-well and lined walls/bottom of the hole. Make sure the percolation rate of the soil is tested. This will affect the amount of rock you need. If your percolation rate is high...the amount of stone surrounding the dry-well may be less.

Can you put a sump pump in these to push water to the street?

Yes you can. Suggest putting a flat landscaping stone or gravel on the bottom of the unit and place the sub pump on that. I did this a one house and used gravel for weight so the unit would not work its way out of the ground. Worked out very well.

just installed it
Just installed this last night to help collect the rain water from my gutters. Seemed to be straight forward and easy to use. I used duct tape to hold the joins together while instlalling otherwise they would pop apart

Flo well was easy to install with clear directions and good quality materials. Already had a couple heavy downpours and it's working like a charm. Picture taken with top off for perspective, final install will be completely covered up to overflow emitter on top.

Solved my sidewalk drainage problem

I had a drainage problem next to a paver sidewalk every spring after the snow melted and during heavy rain storms. Due to poor grading of the yard there really wasn't anywhere for the water to go. I installed this and added the top grate. We had a couple of down pours since the install and it is working great. The water no longer floods the sidewalk as the area in the yard where the water used to collect now drains properly.

came together quite easily, for punching out the holes I used a flathead screw driver and a hammer, and it didn't take very long. I used one to make a drywell, and dug a 4ft diameter 3ft deep hole, lined with water permeable fabric and filled in around the well with 3/4" clear. It's handled my water issues just fine.
