Worked for almost a year then some plastic sheered in half when trying to disconnect a hose. Now I'm left with just the yellow hand fastener attached to the faucet, and I cannot remove it. Tried pliers and it turns, but it does not come off. Don't let this happen to you. Buy something all brass that wont snap in half.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor design - leaks, won't shut off completely after a few uses I bought three of these for use around my yard, and the flexible end of the shutoff seemed like a brilliant solution to prevent bending my watering wands, which I am prone to do with a standard non-flexible hose shutoff. Well, good news and bad news. The good news was that I haven't bent any more wands in the last year since I bought the Nelson shutoffs, but product has two major design flaws: 1) After a few uses, the shutoffs don't. No matter what, you can't completely turn off the flow of water. 2) The flexible portion of the assembly is actually a short piece of regular garden hose, with a male hose end that screws into the body of the shutoff. It constantly comes loose and starts leaking where the hose enters the shutoff. This product was ALMOST a great idea, but save your money and look for a different product.

I bought 2 of these which lasted for 16 months of light duty use before breaking, otherwise 1 star. Problem 1: The shutoff lever is affixed by a screw into a plastic cylinder. When the screw strips, it's broken. Problem 2: The cylinder that is turned by the shutoff lever can slip in relation to whatever connection it has with the internal ball cock that actually opens and closes the flow. When this has happened, you cannot fully open or close the flow because the range of motion of the cylinder is fixed. Problem 3: The flexible coupling is joined to the rest of the item by a male, screw-in connector. The spring that wraps the coupling prevents you from getting a good grip on it. When the male connector that you screw into the hose sticks, therefore, you can't detach the hose without first unscrewing the flexible coupling from the rest of the item.

Bad problem with shut off valve-after a short while, doesn't fully shut off, eventually just freezes up. After realizing I had bought 4 of these dysfunctional adapters, I dismantled one and found both handle- and valve-turn fittings to be made out of soft plastic. It doesn't take many garden waterings/car washes before the fittings on both handle and valve sides wear out, such that there is no traction when you turn the handle (I dismantled an old Orbitz manifold's plastic shut off handle and found a METAL to METAL connection between their TINY handles and valves-it takes a lot longer for them to not work properly).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The valve broken at the third week. I should read this review before purchasing this. Will return to HD.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from does not last I have had 4 of these they are good for about 1 year . I have a hard time with the shut off valve. You have to close it 2 or 3 times before the water quits running. They are cheap enough. be really good if they would put a better valve in it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product Recall Needed??? Bought 3 flex-connect shut-off hose adapters. Worked great controlling water pressure when the connectons held. Last month, while under pressure, the hose connection slipped out of the brass fitting on one unit. Water flowed freely for most of the day until I returned home. Not a problem, manufacturing defects happen. A few days later, a second adapter failed at the exact same hose/fitting connection. Water flowed again! The water bill went from an average of 3k gal/month to 10k gal/month - ouch! When the adapter worked, it was great but my analysis indicates that the part needs some re-engineering to prevent separation under pressure. Statically, two out of three failures isn't good! I can't afford the water bill any longer so I have started a betting pool of the date and time the third adapter will fail. Anyone interested? Later dude. Mike, Sugar Land, Texas

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for yardwork; a few are no longer closing properly For the price, I love these things. I have them at the end of every hose, combined with quick-connect hose connectors. this system allows me to quickly switch nozzles, sprinklers, and even connect hoses for longer lengths. As part of this strategy, I bought over a half-dozen of the Nelson high-flow flex connects. After just a few months, a few of them will not close completely (the shut off valve doesn't stay at 90 degrees). I'm wondering if this can be fixed by loosening or tightening the handle's screw. Other than that, some good and bad. Good: fairly rugged; good feel to the shut-off handle; flexible end prevents too much stress on hoses; yellow is easy to spot in the yard; seemed to have stood up well being exposed to elements / sun (not faded much); I do not have leaks when I adequately tighten everything and ensure washers are good. Bad: unscrewing a connection can be tricky, with the metal coil covering the flexible tube, hindering grip. It sometimes results in unscrewing the entire flexible end from the base. Make sure to retighten adequately. This is where the quick-connect parts pay off - no unscrewing attachments required.
