This is about the only tool I can find in existence that performs this specific type of repair. It opened up a small cross threaded section in a bolt hole on my aluminum engine block from inside-out. Thus, saving me from having to pull the engine to use Helicoil or alternatively have to replace the block. Worth the big price tag. I couldn't find any other tool that starts deep on the "Good" threads; reusing them to back its way out. The only tool that comes close to this is a spark plug backtap, but those sizes are very specific. If you need to repair damaged threads in this manner this tool does do the job. The included nylon cover worked great when using the tool on aluminum.
