Can you remove the J tube to get rid of the loud sound this makes when you flush the toilet?

Asked by Samantha July 2, 2020

Answer

Yes, you can disconnect or cut the J tube. The goal of the J tube is to flush the debris in the bottom of the tank down the drain. You might want to consider slightly closing your shut-off valve to lessen the water pressure. Good luck with it.

Will this product replace Kohler model no. K-3397-EB fill valve?

The connection to the water line is universal. The device will work if there is room in the tank for it. Chect the dimensions of the device and the space in the toilet tank.

It is the control that lets water enter the toilet tank to refill it after the toilet is flushed.

Sounds like the toilet has a leak, causing the float to drop and refill the tank. Or the part is defective. I'd call the manufacturer if you don't think the toilet is leaking. You can use food coloring, like dark blue, in the tank to see if it appears in the bowl.

Does this cost your water bill to go up, due to the water that is released for cleaning purposes?

It sprays water along bottom of tank and aids in keeping it free of algae. If you don’t hook it up water will spray from where you connect it

EASY TO INSTALL. MEETS EXPECTATIONS. ONE MINOR ISSUE IS THAT THE HAND TIGHTEN NUT HAS WINGS THAT WERE DIFFICULT TO BYPASS SHAPE OF THE TOILET BOWL (WINGS HIT PROFILE) THEY GAVE WAY EASILY ENOUGH (BENT) AND, I WAS SURPRISED THEY DIDN'T BREAK. I WAS PREPARED WITH MY TRUSTY CHANNEL LOCKS BUT AS IT TURNED OUT IT WAS NOT NECESSARY.

I love the concept of keeping the tank clean. We recently had issues with dark algae tank build-up getting into our toilet. Then, my year old Fluidmaster stopped shutting off. I don't think this valve is made any different than others. I hope it will last. It did better explain how to adjust the water level in my Kohler bowl. However, it is difficult to get the level correct due to different flush variables. The bowl fill adjustment is not easy. only a tiny movement either way can cause overfilling or underfilling. Some don't hold the handle long enough which results in water waste by underfilling the bowl so that part of the advertising is difficult to accomplish. The tank level adjustment is just like others and easy to set. This was very cheap.

Would not recommend because of misleading product packaging - Limited Lifetime Warranty on box After installing the product and reading the fine print, the warranty is a limited one year warranty. Otherwise the product installed as described and is working.

Easy to install but it should be considering you will be doing it again
I liked the ease of installation. I also liked the great job it does at keeping the toilet bowl clean and free of buildup. The design is great but the pieces are cheap. I had the same issue with the valve failing and my tank constantly flowing. I bought and installed it only a month and a half ago and it already went bad. This is the service toilet and it is used maybe twice a day. Very poor quality parts. But then again for less then 10 bucks what do you expect ?

Valve failure creates serious flood risk
When the rubber seal at the top of the fill valve fails, the valve shutoff fails, and the tank continues filling non-stop. There is no redundant valve shutoff. If the overflow tube can't handle the constant water flow the toilet tank will spill over and flood the bathroom.

Easy to install, like the features.
Easily installed with no tools. I like the adjustable bowl=fill valve and self-limiting nut for tank attachment to prevent over-tightening. Money well spent.

DON'T FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BLINDLY!
This valve installs very easily -- I had a much harder time removing the old valve than installing this one. Just don't follow the installation instructions blindly. They tell you that the top of the valve has to sit almost at the height of the tank itself. WRONG... or maybe wrong, it depends on how tall is your flush valve. If your flush valve is only half the height of the tank's overall height, you have to install the HC660 fill valve at its shortest height or else, water will overflow into the flush valve causing ghost flushing. Observe how it fills the tank and take the time to tweak it -- your wallet will thank you when the next water bill comes. Something super-awesome is the tank-cleaning tube. I thought it'd be just a gimmick but it actually does clean the tank or water deposits!
