The NIBCO 1-1/2 in. ABS DWV trap adapter features a hub x slip joint connection and provides a means for adapting a solvent weld connection to a slip joint connection. Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS) is resistant to a wide variety of materials ranging from sewage to commercial household chemical formulations and can be exposed to a wide temperature span.
  • The NIBCO 1-1/2 in. ABS DWV trap adapter is used in residential and commercial drain, waste and vent systems.
  • Solvent welds over ABS fitting hub and incorporates a slip joint for tubular traps
  • Do not use primer with ABS
  • NSF/ANSI standard 14

Used the existing 1 1/2" ABS pipe out the wall and then the J part and snugged up. Water POURS out without a seal. Guess I have to replace the whole unit. But first a chat with Furgenson Plumbing Supply to get the real scoop.

what is the outer diameter of pipe that fits into the slip joint? Specifically, can a nominal 1 1...

To Nibco Technical Services: "Liar, liar, pants on fire.....". Even an idiot can see from the side view that a nominal 1-1/2" ABS pipe will NOT fit into the slip joint by comparing the thread size on the slip end and the opening on the other end. The unit slip joint was made for an 1-1/4" sink or bathtub drain.

After I cement this onto my ABS drain to the wall (My drain coming from wall is ABS), can I slip ...

Yes you can use pvc with abs it it’s just that it is not a good idea to glue the two together. A slip joint usually used in a sink drain is fine.

I need a 11/2 to a 1 1/4 adaptor with a 11/2 inch nut
