Screws? More like tinfoil
If you buy this, first thing you do is THROW AWAY THE SCREWS. Trust me on this. I saw this mentioned on other reviews, and forgot to follow their advice. I thought I knew what I was doing. These screws are WORSE than useless, because if you use them, the heads will end up being destroyed. And you will spend lots more of your Saturday afternoon trying to fix the mess you are now in. Unless you are building a door frame using balsa wood, it is impossible to screw the screws in no matter how careful you are, without destroying the Philips X. And then, if you try the Dremel trick of slicing a straight across line so you can back the screw out with a flathead screwdriver - the screw head will completely fall apart. No structural integrity to the screws. Had to back a couple out with 1/4 turns of a pliers. Ouch. If by some miracle you do get the screws in, the heads definitely won't remain black. And the instructions? Only on the outside of the package. The package that came with stickers all over it, hiding half the instructions, including that all important "X - 1" bit. I figured that out, but still. Crazy way to save money. No paper instructions with words (just pictograms) and screws that aren't worth anything and should have been left out of the package. And good luck to you getting the door to be straight and square. Even with laying out the pieces flat on the driveway, my door was not square. I should have just bought a pair of hinges and braces and built the fence door that same way I have done before. Takes a little more work, but by now, I would have saved time, because I just have this kit that didn't work and I'll need to rebuild my door.

Exactly as advertised. Easy to put together and strong. The gate I built is HEAVY and this frame is sturdy. The screws they send are weak, so I had to use my own, but I didn't buy it for the screws. I used bolts to hold the fence to the 4X4s rather than wood screws as they will not chew up the wood and loosen up over time.

    Great Kit
I needed a short but wide gate for my front deck and was worried about problems with sagging. This kit works great. My gate seems strong and secure. I added aluminum balusters matching the builder installed railing for looks, but the corner braces and hinges made for a sturdy gate without them installed. Comments were made about the quality of the screws, which are true but problem solved using a square bit instead of a phillip's bit on my driver. Would buy again and do recommend for DIY'ers.

The hinge location on this kit limits the position/placement of the gate. The hinges have countersinks that will require one of two possible locations that may or MAY-NOT align with your fence/application.

Worked as advertised. My gate was 5’ wide and I ended up adding some extra bracing … perhaps out of an abundance of caution.

I've never used iron braces like this before. If the gate was likely to sag I just put some plywood braces in the corners. That having been said, these are pretty cool. The cost for the braces including hinges are only slightly more than what a set of decent hinges would cost. Although this picture shows mitered corners that is really not necessary with the corner braces. Just slap 'em together! One note: the instructions would imply that the hinges should be attached to the front side of the supporting post. That's not necessary and a really bad idea besides. Unless you want your gate unscrewed and removed by vandals, I would suggest that you attach the hinges in the normal location to the inside of the supporting post. These are definitely my new go-to when installing outside gates!

The frame bracket was purchased to replace hinges that failed. It was easy to install and proved to be far superior to the hinges that were replaced. The corner braces give some assurance to the square of the gate and replaced a lateral 2 x 4. The brace kit is sturdy and the gate operation is functioning better than before.

This product caused us much extra time and effort as the corners were not exactly a 90 degree and 1/2 of the screws lost their heads when being screwed in. We drilled pilot holes before inserting the screws but it still didn't help. Then we had to remove the screws with a vise grip to remove them as there was no head left to firming screw them down. A very inferior product.

Worked great. I was a little concerned about the strength of the hinges so I bought one extra large heavy duty one for extra support. When the kit arrived, found the hinges were very well made and didn’t need to add the extra support.
