Will these tape hold up if used outdoors on tin and vinyl? How often is it projected that it wou...

Asked by Angelia February 18, 2021

Answer

Thank you for your question. Nashua 398 will bond to both tin and vinyl. However, it does not contain any UV inhibitor to protect it for extreme long-term outdoor installations. Application life will vary based on temperature and exposure to sunlight. Over long periods, the adhesive will eventually dry out and will likely leave residue on the materials. Best of luck with your project.

Can I use this to seal a sliver crack in the plastic bottom of an automatic ice maker in my freezer?

Asked by Badcorgi April 30, 2020
1
Answer

Thank you for your question. Nashua 398 is a great all purpose product, but might not be the best choice for freezer conditions - especially if the surfaces and surrounding air are still frozen. A better choice for a permanent, air tight seal and freezer-resistant seal is Nashua 314CRT Cooler Repair Tape which is available from homedepot.com. Look for item 205376475. Best of luck with your project!

Can this tape be used to bond the edges of carpet permanently?

Asked by MDHomeowner June 9, 2019
1
Answer

Thank you for your question. While Nashua 398 will bond to the carpet and to the flooring and will likely hold up for some time, duct tape is not a permanent solution. Over time, the adhesive will "dry" out and lose it's hold on the flooring. Best of luck with your project.

Is this tape waterproof?

Asked by Ming June 3, 2019
1
Answer

Thank you for your question. Nashua 398, like most duct tapes, is moisture resistant and can hold up in wet conditions. However, it is not completely waterproof. Best of luck with your project.

Answer

Thank you for your question. Nashua 398 is not the best choice for this particular application. The best selection is Nashua 314 Cooler Repair Tape. It is specifically designed to seal cracks and seam in refrigeration environments. It withstands cold temperatures and minimizes the transfer of air and moisture vapor. This product is currently only available via homedepot.com at the following link Best of luck with your project. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Nashua-Tape-4-in-x-15-yd-314CRT-Cooler-Repair-Tape-in-White-1198702/205376475?keyword=Nashua+314CRT&semanticToken=212t000000+%3E++st%3A%7Bnashua+314crt%7D%3Ast+cnn%3A%7B0%3A0%7D+cnr%3A%7B8%3A0%7D+cnb%3A%7B9%3A0%7D+cnt%3A%7B4%3A0%7D+f%3A%7Ba%7D+cnv%3A%7B0%3A0%7D+oos%3A%7B0%3A1%7D+br%3A%7Bnashua%7D%3Abr+rt%3A%7B314crt%7D%3Art+dln%3A%7B566994%7D+tgr%3A%7BExact+match%7D+qu%3A%7Bnashua+314crt%7D%3Aqu

will it stick to concrete to create a white line in garage

Asked by nick November 18, 2017

I think this would be good for lining a smoothed concrete surface. Be warned, I don't think it would stick to rough/leveled concrete. Furthermore, if it is humid or cold the tape won't get a good seal.

What you have to remove tape What do you have to remove tape off car

Asked by Lamar November 16, 2017
1
Answer

Thank you for your question. Nashua All-Weather duct tape is designed for long-term, heavy-duty bonding applications and as a result of its super-strong adhesive, it will often be very difficult to remove should the user ever decide to take the tape off of a surface. Adhesive remover products, mineral spirits, and sometimes rubbing alcohol can all be used to soften and remove the adhesive from surfaces. However, Nashua Tape reminds you to test your surfaces prior to the use of such products as these chemicals could potentially cause damage. Best of luck with your project.

Does this tape can seal cold temperature around an indoor garage door?

Asked by Angie September 1, 2017
1
Answer

Thank you for your question. Nashua All-Weather duct tape would not be the best choice for sealing around an indoor garage door - not because it would not hold or help to keep the drafts from coming through BUT because it would likely leave messy adhesive residue on the surfaces when you went to remove it. Weather stripping for doors in the thickness appropriate for filling the gaps around your entry way would be a more optimal solution. Best of luck with your project.

what's temperature rating of product?

Thank you for your question. Nashua 398 duct tape has a continual operating temperature range of 40 to 200F. Best of luck with your project!

Could I use this to repair the underbelly membrane on my mobile home?

I think it would be effective but make sure the surface is clean via denatured alcohol and roll the tape with a wallpaper roller or rubber equivalent after application.

The quality you come to expect from Nashua
I purchased this product from Home Depot in January 2021, to repair some seams on my unfinished basement insulation coverings. This particular product was chosen due to the long history of great results I've received from using other Nashua tapes, particularly their foil HVAC tapes. I'll share with you, my thoughts on this product: PACKAGING: Very basic, just a simple plastic wrapping. MADE IN / ASSEMBLED IN: This product is made in the USA of U.S. and global components. That's always a plus. QUALITY: This product is of outstanding quality and at 11 mils thick, doesn't shred like cheaper tapes do. Buyers like to inquire about the stickiness factor. I found this tape to be plenty sticky for adhering my insulation panels together and believe that it would serve as a great general purpose duct tape for other purposes. I use a razor blade to cut the tape as it is thick and hard on your fingers after a while if you are cutting a lot of smaller pieces. I also prefer the look of clean cuts and not digging the nasty residue out of my teeth when trying to bite off pieces like a lot of us DIY'ers do with duct tape! Overall, this is the quality I have come to expect from Nashua. There are cheaper Nashua duct tape options available, but being that I am adhering heavy bats of insulation together that are affixed to my basement walls, I wanted to get a thick and sturdy tape to keep the seams sealed without the tape pulling off or ripping. So far, I am more than pleased.

Nashua 398 Duct Tape is the exact product my family needs for our construction of an above-ground swimming pool (a true health need in our case). With the 380's heavy-duty strength and density; its broad, four-inch width (very rare among duct tapes); and its 60-yard (180 feet) length, it is the perfect tape for our big job. We will use it to bond a grid of styrofoam panels, thus forming the base to hold the large, oval-shaped pool. While many other pool builders have applied multiple layers of duct tape for this usage, the 11-mil thickness of your 398 Tape will render such doubling-up unnecessary. Thank you, Nashua!

I'm very pleased; this was exactly what I hoped it would be. Color is intense (I needed bright yellow for a special purpose), adhesive seems very strong and likely to be long lasting, and this tape seems very robust and durable.
