This tape is unusual in that it instantly adheres to itself but not much else. This sounds odd but for certain applications it's a real miracle. I use it to hold my VA leg prosthesis together. Since it doesn't adhere well initially you might want to tape down the end to start. Put good stretch tension on it and as soon as the first loop is completed the tape will adhere to itself. Overlap at least 50% between turns for best results. The final turn should overlap 100%. The tape comes with an easily removable backing to keep it from adhering to itself on the roll. Once stuck, it STAYS stuck, no repositioning allowed!

I have an old 2-function swivel sprayer in the faucet of a utility sink in my garage that was leaking. The whole faucet will need to be replaced but not just yet. I managed to seal the leak in the swivel mechanism with this tape. First there were small drops coming out of the fix but I guess the self-fusing silicone needed a couple of days of curing with warmer temperatures and now the seal is quite tight. Very satisfied with this quick fix. I cut the tape along the length (to 1/2 an inch in width) because the working area was small but that was easy to do.

I'm not sure how people are having a hard time with this product. I don't leave many reviews, but I will for this since it was so effective for me. T Junction on my forced-hot-water pipe got a little drip-drip during some remodeling in our basement. It must have moved after being in one spot for a long time. My guess is the solder cracked, but it was difficult to see WHERE the leak was exactly. I tried Flex Tape. It just dribbled out the side. I tried plumbers putty (the kind you have to mix and smell bad and turns rock hard when it's cured) and it didn't work - in spite of that being my go-to for this sort of thing for years. Tried flex tape AND the putty. NO DICE. Friend of mine suggested silicon tape. Went and picked up a black roll of this. Instantly fixed. Wish I would have went with this to start with, would have saved about two gallons of hot water from leaking out. It was a difficult placement for anything other than cutting and resoldering to work on. Happened on the weekend, so I wouldn't want to call a plumber and pay the emergency fee. To be honest, I'm probably just going to leave it like this until it leaks again. Saved me a fortune.

I haven't use this black version yet, but I sure it works as well as the clear. I used it on a leaking water line and it worked great. Be sure to stretch the tape as you are wrapping it around the leak.

This tape was excellent for stopping a leak in my icemaker waterline at the filter connection. My first attempt did not stop the leak, but on my second attempt I made sure to stretch the tape tightly around the leak and the leaking stopped. It was leaking while I was taping it and it sealed perfectly. Now I can take my time on replacing this waterline.
