Unlighted door chime button - 2.75 inches high, white, 20-Pack - use with doorbell chimes, bells and door buzzers. Works great with as a doorbell button replacement. PLEASE NOTE: A diode is needed (not included) if you are using a digital chime (plays a melody; has a speaker for the sound). A diode is not needed is you are using a mechanical doorbell chime (2-Note sound; has a small mallet hitting a metal bar for the sound). This door chime button did not meet my needs. It's not exactly what I thought it was. It's basically a plastic casing over some metal tabs. When you press the plastic button, it pushes the tabs downward forcing a complete circuit to whatever the tabs touch underneath. I can't imagine the buttons will weather well. These chime buttons would appear to work better for an internal use or student's science experiment.

The Home Depot non-lite plastic case doorbell switch is a simple off-on low voltage switch. It is excellent in use in a science project on magnetism. Simple wind some low voltage wire around bolt and nut and attached one wire to the switch and the other wire to the battery and another wire coming from the other side of the battery to the switch. Then, by pressing the non-lite doorbell switch, you complete the electrical circuit and create an electro-magnet with the bolt and nut. As a result, you can pick up ferrous (example: steel screws and paper clips) metal pieces with the electro-magnet. As soon as you stop pressing the doorbell switch button, the electricity stops flowing, and the circuit is electrically disconnected, and therefore the electro-magnet stops working in picking up the screws and paper clips. The non-lite indoor doorbell switch was an excellent way to demonstrate how to make and use a low voltage electrical circuit.

As I have a garage door in the back of my garage leading to the backyard I've always had to walk over to it and push the button to open and close it. Not really an issue except for those times when I'm headed back inside and have to backtrack to close the door. Easy solution: Run a wire with 2 leads from the door opener (hooked up to the same 2 places the existing wires are) and use this Door Chime Button to locate the wire and button right next to the other opener at the door to my house. Doesn't need to be lighted so this was a good choice for me.

Looks nice and worked fine. Doorbell rings again as I changed a broken one. I have several more to replace and these will fit the bill. Most of the doors that get a replacement are trimmed in white vinyl so these do match. Happy with it, and I would recommend to others for a new or a replacement door bell. This is not a lighted one but i didn't need that.

The Newhouse Harware rectangular unlighted door chime button white #BT1W is rated five stars for the following reasons. The door bell button was extremely easy to install and easy to use (just press the button).I also used these door chime buttons for my three garage door openers. They were east to install and works great. They have a neat appearance and look great.
