Actually it didn't fit perfectly, so I had to make small adjustments. Nothing major, but not a plug and play type replacement part. However, more important, is that it failed again, six months after a replaced it. Honestly, i am not so sure i would buy the assembly again, because it is obviously subject to water/ moisture, which quickly damages the sensor.

If your light is too bright and is illuminating the cell it could cause the cell to turn it off and on. Try installing a less bright light or shield the cell from the light

Yes, the challenge will be drilling the hole for the sensor to fit through. Your decision is to drill a hole in the pole or the light fixture. I chose the light fixture because it was made of aluminum and I could do this on the garage bench. Turn off power and when you take out the light fixture, I didn't want the wires to fall down inside the pole; so I tied cotton string to hold the entire wire bundle (ground-green, power- black and neutral -white) up at the top of the pole. Once I mounted the sensor in the light fixture, I prewired the RED wire with a wire nut to the BLACK power wire in the fixture. Then wire nut the three neutrals (white), two power (black) and ground (green). Replace the light fixture to the pole. Use black electrical tape over the sensor to see if it works. Oh, don't forget to turn the power switch back on. Good luck.

I originally installed one of these in place of a wall switch to light our stairwell theater lamps at night and turn off during the day. It worked well for approximately 3 1/2 years. I then noticed that the lights were staying on continuously and causing the three 7 watt bulbs to burn out rather quickly. I recently replaced the photo eye and we are back up and running. I'm not sure what the life expectancy is on these but hopefully this one will last at least as long or longer.
