Q:can this be used inside a propane deep fryer

Answer This Question

A:  Yes, unless you get the oil hotter than 2400 degrees, the melting point of steel. If your Deep fryer is aluminum, it'll only make it to about 700 degrees before it melts, so no problem.

A:  No. It’s too short. There’s a taller version of the product for turkeys.

A:  You can probably do a small turkey. Never tried though. Also, looks like you can put a turkey breast on it.

A:  Hello Dewayne, my name is Connie on behalf of Nexgrill Industries. This roaster is not recommended to be used with a turkey since it is significantly bigger than a chicken. I hope you have a good day and Happy Grilling!

A:  No - you'd need a much bigger size to handle a turkey and need a tall enough oven as well.

Relatively sturdy stand that can hold a 12 oz can inside a whole chicken for vertical roasting. There are plenty of "beer can chicken" recipes available but basically you empty half the can of beer, add butter and other seasonings inside the can as desired and rub those same things on the outside. Roast until done and pull it out. If you spray the roaster with a non-stick cooking spray prior to putting it in the chicken it comes out much more easily. The stand can be used either in the oven or on the grill. Does a good job and cleans easily.

Roaster is a well built, simple design. The can holder will hold a standard 12 ounce can. It may hold a 'tall-boy' but I haven't tried it. Could make the chicken too tall. The roaster will not hold the slender cans. Even with the standard can, it sits high compared to the 'legs' - around 5.75" with the can. Because of that, I wish the legs were wider because it would be more stable, but as constructed it does have a good amount of stability. The legs on the roaster I received do not sit flat - making it wobbly. Overall, a solid product. If the legs weren't un-even (see photo), I would rate it higher.

Love It! This is a must have if your an avid griller as myself. All winter long I have been wanting to attempt my first beer can chicken and I finally got to do it. The roaster stand worked perfectly with no hiccups or tip overs. The beer can fit right in with no hesitation. Once the chicken was set it fit sturdy and it didn't budge to either side. The best part was dinner! My wife and son were impressed! The only downside about the whole thing was I had to do the dishes afterwards. The roaster cleaned up with ease. Anything sticky came off with a little soap and love.

A simply fabricated stand of chrome plated steel (approximately 0.138 inch diameter wire) this item will accommodate a standard 12 oz. beverage can at its center and provide support to an upended chicken, positioned over the beverage can which is half full (or half empty) of liquid. One can use this either in one’s oven or on the grill (indirect heat) with the cover closed. To try it out I placed a chicken that was just a little shy of four (4) pounds in place, rubbed the chicken with oil and seasoning and baked it in the oven (350 degrees F) for approximately one hour and forty five minutes. The chicken came out juicy, tasty and with thin crisp, non-fatty skin. In hindsight, it would have been advisable to spray the beverage can with a cooking spray to prevent sticking, as when attempting to remove the chicken the lower half stayed stuck to the stand and, since the bird was so tender, it separated in two (see photo). It might be possible to use a slightly larger chicken, however at four pounds one is close to the stability limit for the stand. After one use, I noted that the bottom of the stand had “warped” slightly, possibly from the heat and weight of the chicken or possibly from the attempt to separate the bird from the wire stand (noted above). By orientating the chicken vertically, with the opening down, any excess fat drains away from the bird while the steaming liquid keeps the meat moist and juicy. If one had a large enough grill, with a few of these stands one could easily cook multiple chickens without having to rotate them…certainly a time saver. While not particularly of robust construction, with care one should, for household use, get a fair amount of use out of this product.

My family had a "vertical" chicken roaster many years ago when I was a kid, and the chicken always turned out great. This is such a simple device, yet it works so well. The roasted chicken turned out great and my wife and kids loved it. The skin was crispy tasty, and the juices formed pools under the skin--the juices didn't drip out. When I cut the chicken, the juices poured out and made fantastic broth that I saved. One great thing about roasting the chicken vertically is that I was able to use a small round cake pan. No need to pull out a large rectangular deep roasting pan with a big rack. Just stick the vertical chicken in a relatively small round pan and it's easy to put into the oven. That was a really nice bonus that I didn't expect. Based on my first test chicken, I have a few recommendations. Consider using this on a smaller chicken. I bought Fosters Farms chicken from my local grocery store, and I think the chicken was just too big. It was leaning over, so I had to try and prop it up on its legs to stay straight on the vertical chicken roaster. The large chicken I used also didn't cook as evenly as I expected. The recipes I found said to measure the internal temperature at the thigh, away from the bone, which I did. Based on that temp measurement, the thigh was fully cooked and falling off the bone. But to my surprise, the drumsticks and breasts were not cooked fully. The chicken carcass was falling apart, fully cooked, but I had to carve off the drum sticks and breasts and then cook them some more. Next time I'm going to find a smaller chicken, perhaps an organic one, as those tend to be smaller, and try that size. I suspect it will cook more evenly than the giant one I tested with, and will also sit better on the vertical chicken roaster stand.
