Paint defective big time.
Bought this for the Fourth of July party. First use half of the entire grill bubbles the paint and all peeled off. Everyone tells me to return it. Dissatisfied with that and it would be much nicer if the smoke exhaust was interchangeable from reverse flow to regular flow.

Don't waste your time....
So, I grill & smoke frequently and on a level just under pro-circuit cooks out there. I also have a background in engineering so I know what I'm talking about. This unit has some great features, the design is good and it is a nice set up. That's where the compliments end.
This unit does not execute well at all! First, I could never get it up to temperature, even when I added the maximum of 3 lbs of fuel to the firebox and fully opened the vents. It would not get above 175°. I was able to touch the cooking grates throughout the seasoning process & never got burned. Second, despite the felt insulation covering all the areas of potential heat/smoke escape (which is an excellent design touch), there was too much escape in my opinion. Not a ton, mind you, but enough of a factor to make me question the quality of the product. Third, the grease chute made for most of the escape or heat & smoke. That grease chute might be a good idea on paper but it just does not translate well in reality. So much was lost from that opening that I finally just stuffed aluminum foil in there to stop the massive leak. Fourth, as a grill, it does not work well either. Because there isn't enough heat flow under the heat tray, your fuel just burns out for lack of proper air circulation. This applies somewhat to the firebox as well because it's very low to the bottom of the chamber. Fifth, the screws holding the top & bottom of the firebox should not be relied upon. I used some washers to give me peace of mind and to hold them together more securely, because I felt that at some point the two halves would split apart, especially given the weight of fuel and the temperatures generated by the fire.
In closing, I really wanted to like this grill/smoker combo. The theory is sound but the reality is that it's not suited for the semi-pro like me. I've only had it for a day and I'm going to return it. I can be wasting good charcoal & hard wood on a product that won't perform as advertised.

Most even smoke
I got this smoker and left a review before using it. I now want to provide an updated review based on my several experiences with smoking. I must say I love this thing! I have smoked a pork shoulder, a brisket and wings. All came out perfect! There is a learning curve in using an offset smoker but once you play around with it you’ll learn how to keep the temperature up. You should spray or season your firebox and your grill plates to keep it new .Check out my results!

I’m a first time smoker owner
I bought this smoker and it has been exceptional. Easy to maintain temperature and the meat I’ve cooked on it is amazing. The assembly was a bit time consuming because the instruction sheet is printed so small that it is hard to tell what bolts go to what component. After assembly you follow a few steps for the burn in procedure that actually gets you a bit familiar with how to properly start your grill in the first place. My grill was able to reach a little over 460 degrees so I’m sure I could grill as well as smoke when the need arises.
I’m a first time smoker owner and I have to say I’m blown away with how easy this has been. I should have purchased one of these years ago.

I ignored the bad reviews…don’t be like me
Red Flag #1: The good reviews all have pictures of a clean grill
The Grill part of it is great but I didn’t spend $500 for a traditional grill, I wanted a smoker.
The smoker part of it is absolute garbage. This is my fourth smoker which is why I ignored the bad reviews, the reverse offset idea seemed appealing.
I struggled to get this thing above 225 degrees. I played around with the dampers quite a bit, changing them every 30 minutes to give the grill time to adjust. No luck.
Don’t buy!

Fabulous multi use grill/smoker
So this is a smoker because it has the chamber on one side and when you use it as a smoker it has a platform in the center of the grill where you would put your meat to be smoked.
It can also function as a grill and what you do then is shut off the smoker side and flip the platform over which then gives you the grill surface for your briquettes or wood or whatever it is you're going to use. The grill platform has attachable side hinges that allow you to adjust the height.
It heats up super fast and has an excellent seal that keeps heat in. Keeping the grill side clean is easy as the platform comes out and can be dumped a d or hosed off. The swing up ledge is handy for platters and utinsels.
It's a very heavy sturdy wheel but the wheels allow for ease of moving, even over rough surfaces. There is a grease bucket at one end as well as a storage rack.

Well made and easy to assemble
First of all was impressed with the packaging and care taken to ensure that all the parts and pieces were protected during shipping. Everything was very well labeled and easy to identify with the Instruction manual. As for assembly, I really appreciated that the bolt holes are all threaded so there is no cumbersome bolt and nut and washer assemblies that with many "some assembly required" take forever to do. With pre-threaded holes I was able to complete the assembly alone in approximately an hour. This grill is well made and the quality of the materials is evident. Heavy gauge metal, heavy duty hinges, etc. make me believe that this will last a long time. Directions for use were helpful from online and I really like the dual use function of the grill. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quality charcoal smoker grill.
