You can use it either as a grip or as loop one end as the first tie down. The cam has two mechanisms which doubles the strength of the grip. The cam has arrows which shows the proper direction of feed. Two ways to tie down - fixed end, which is using the loop as the first connection point, then wrapping the webbing around the load, and loading the webbing into the cam. You can slide the cam anywhere along the strap so you're not dealing with an awkward location. Then you loop the webbing to the next tie down point and slide it back into the second cam location and tighten the strap to secure. The looped end method is just the same as above except that instead of tieing down the looped end, you thread the strap through the loop and make the same cam connections as above. There are some great videos on line to show you the application if it seems confusing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptionally Adaptable to Any Situation Got this mainly for pick-up and trailer tie-down, but but useful on the ranch as well. The loop end slips through eyes on my truck bed easily enough, slips over cleats, and by putting the free end through the loop, can be anchored on beams, pipes, and branches as well. The dual cam lock allows the buckle to be positioned any where on the strap so you can get good access to the cams for tightening and release. The working side of the buckle works like a pulley, so we could get a 300-pound load up off the ground. I now have a couple in my truck all the time, and stowed one on the 4-wheeler, too.

This Dual CamJam with 12-ft long web belt (Nite Ize model CJD12-09-R3, manufactured in China) adjusts easily, locks securely with no slip, and releases with a light touch of the thumb. It's rated at a 400-lb working limit (1200 lb breaking limit) so it handles anything I've been able to throw at it so far. The six-inch loop at one end adds an extra level of versatility since it can be hooked to an object or the belt can feed through it to wrap around a bigger object (like a stack of lumber). I'm really impressed with how tightly the two sets of teeth grip the belt, yet easily release with a light touch on the spring-loaded release tabs. Instructions consist of just two sets of drawings showing steps to thread the belt through the dual Cam mechanism, but I actually found the single photo on the package and a few minutes playing with the device much more useful. This system doesn't have the working limit capacity of other ratcheting tie downs, and it's certainly more expensive, but it's lighter and generally easier to use. It's a great tool to keep in the truck for securing over-size loads or keeping the car's trunk lid closed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Idea Quality product that allows for positioning the cam lock anywhere along the webbing. We use these all the time at our shop for tying down material from job site to job site. Very quick and easy to use.

This innovated dual cam system is eons ahead of the old tie down straps with a roller and a ratchet. This simple design will have your load secured before you even figure out how to thread the old fashioned tie downs. I especially like the ability to raise heavy loads off the ground with the ease of a pulley system without the pulley. I can throw this over a garage rafter and attach it to my riding mower to raise it with ease for tire repair or other maintenance needs. Tie something up for ease of access or tie something down for a secure ride. It took me a couple of minutes to figure our how to thread it from the instructions but once I did it was easy after that. Great product!

This tie down system is easier to use than the traditional ratchet straps but has its limitations. The strap has a loop at one end and an angle cut at the other end. The angle cut end on mine is heat sealed to prevent fraying, this caused some the strap to be wider than the rest. I had to trim off a little before it would fit through the cam mechanism. The limitations are based on the user being the tightening force. It will only be as tight as you can pull. Unlike a ratchet strap that uses less human force and more mechanical advantage to tighten the strap.

The camjam tie down is very well made, especially when compared to similar products from other popular brands. The "dual" option of the tie down allows the user to wrap one end of the strap around an item and then wrap the other end around a separate item then cinch them together. It can also be used as a typical tie down. All in all it is a handy strap to have. The minus one star comes with the amount of practice needed to use the dual function. It took me MANY times to figure it out and commit it to memory.

I often need to cinch something quickly in the bed of my truck or to my trailer. The items often do not need all that rope and bungys etc. I just need something that goes on quickly, holds securely and then comes off easy as well. I guess I should add that it is reusable and easily stored. I have 2 of these and can easily surround an item and tie down on two sides quickly.
