This comes in many many pieces. Very hard to put together. Next time I will pay to have it assembled and installed. Took us all day to assemble, then we had to get three guys to hang it up.

I purchased a 4' and 7' awning for a standard and sliding door. Took my time assembling the 4' awning to get it right, the 7' awning went much faster. The predrilled holes in the aluminum frame all lined up and the finished product looks great. Once mounted on the wall and the awning was secured to the horizontal rail with the sheet metal screws, it is solid. I purchased stainless steel screws to mount it to the wall. Time will tell to see how the included sheet metal screws hold up to moisture. The gaps in the side mounting frame should relieve wind pressure as it does get windy here. Very happy with the awnings.

Love my awning!!!! Directions at times are a little sketchy but all in all we got it done. Took my husband & I about 3 hours. Only complaint is that I wish it came in 8 or 10 foot length!

It was hard putting together! Next time will pay to have assembled and installed. Was unaware it would come in pieces. It should read “will come unassembled”!

It works well. It's withstood a few windstorms, which was a worry of mine. We've had worse winds but it seems solid so maybe when the bigger winds blow it will do well. It's been up a few months. I am a 74 year old woman so I suppose anyone can do it if I can. I had my husband - same age - help put it up on the exterior wall. I unpacked and laid out all the parts and followed the instructions. All the parts were there plus a few extras - thank you for those. I could write better instructions and make putting it together much easier. There were photos that were a bit too dark to make out just what it was without a magnifying glass (but then I'm old and perhaps it's just my eyes but then again, maybe not.) A set of drawing along with lighter printed pictures would be great. Putting it together was another matter. It would have been awful to put it together on the floor. I put it together on my long (40" x 84") dining room table and it was almost a piece of cake. Yes, the finished product is wider than the table but I was easily able to slide it (with a plastic table cloth under it) back and forth to the positions I needed it in to get the screws into where they needed to go. The screws on the side panel attaching it to the main panel were a bit tricky but it got done. It was not hard to move the finished awning to the outside. It's not too heavy - just a bit awkward. My husband helped me carry it out. If you are going to put this awning together, use channel locks where it says to press items together (things such as the gizzmos that hold the panels together in the middle). By being very careful, the washer gizzmo slides in easily. I couldn't have done it without channel locks as my fingers are not that strong (and I don't think they ever were). I used 2 different sized channel locks while assembling this. The instructions are for putting it up on a wall that is obviously flat, I have a flat board for the top rack above shiplap for the bottom screws. Due to winds, I wanted the awning as far into the metal channel that is attached to the wall as was possible. This actually made me take out the tape measure and think a bit. I ended up putting it so the bottom screws were placed toward the bottom of the shiplap. It is a two person job to put it up on a wall. Were is not a 7' and prehaps just a 4', I could have done it myself. My one concern was and is the long metal piece that the unit goes into. It can be slid in (I did that while it was on the dinning room table to see how it would fit and if it could be slid in by me without the help of anyone or if it would have to be snapped in.) I noticed that the ends seemed much more secure than the middle. When we put it up where it now lives, we lifted and put it in the channel like the instructions say. The ends are very secure however the middle is not as much. I don't think it will matter though. What I didn't think about was condensation on the underside of the awning. I live in the rain forest and we get 12' (144") of rain a year. Lots of humidity even on the non rainy days. So it was a surprise to be standing at the door getting ready to go inside and having a drop of water fall on me. Oh well, can't have it all. Overall I'm glad it's up. If they had them wider and longer I would have gotten one about 5' x 10'. I feel it was money well spent and it makes me happy it's up.
