Will this fit Nutone fan, MDL# 8832N? Fan has 8832N173W stamped on the bracket and the sticker on the bracket has 8832N. If does not fit, what is a good replacement for the motor, fan, and grill for this fan?

Sones Bath Fan Upgrade Kits are only for people who already have the original housing which is probably 40 years old. Tech support did not even know what I was talking about when I said I needed an original Sones housing WHICH IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE!!! So if you bought the kit it must be returned to get your money back. The original Sones housing has the same dimensions of some other old brand fan housings for which their fans are no longer available. This means if you do not have the original Sones housing you must buy a new fan with different housing dimensions requiring a new ceiling cutout for the new fan.

will this work in a Broan, older style?
Asked by: bird
I did replace an older Broan myself, take off the cover and see how big the inside is, it fits most of them. The cover is easy to take off and put back on, hope this helps.

QuicKit 60 CFM 2.5 Sones 10 Minute Bathroom Exhaust Fan Upgrade Kit is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 88.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install and works great The fan was used to replace the original vent fan that came with the house. The new fan is very easy to install. Just pop the metal tab on the old fan so you can drop it out of the ceiling, then when you insert the new fan be sure and hook the two tabs into place as you are putting it in at a slight angle, then just push up on the side with the single tab and it will snap into place. Then just plug it into the power socket and you are done. You only need a flat head screwdriver to do the install. Then install the cover and that's all there is. The fan does the job, and is a great addition to my overall bathroom remodel.

The above FAQ says the kit fits NuTone 696N housings. Nu Tone Spec sheet says it fits the Nu Tone 696N housings. Fact is there are numerous 696N housings. Ours is a 696N-B and the plug is not in the corner and the mounting tabs are different. There is a NuTone Kit, P/N 690NT, that is universal and will fit the 696N-B housings. If you type in 690NT into Home Depot's website search browser guess what shows up? This kit, the QKN60S, and as already mentioned... this doesn't fit. Ugh..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Upgrade. I've been wanting to replace my bathroom fan for quite sometime. Because the access to the fan is through a bedroom closet, I've put it off, and am glad I did. In fact, I totally redid the bathroom last year except replacing the fan. I had no idea there was such a product on the market to upgrade. What is really nice is you don't have to access the attic to upgrade. Just like the instructions say, you simply unplug the existing and snap the new one in. This upgrade doesn't have the old style fan (see picture). I'm sure this design is part of the reason why it's so quiet and moves so much more air. I couldn't believe the amount of air it moves. After installing, I told my wife to come in the bathroom and close the door. The toilet paper was hanging off the roll, and it actually moves when the fan is on! The positives of this product are obvious. Simple installation, quiet, moves a lot of air, and is much nicer in appearance then the old grill cover (see picture). The negatives: NONE!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice upgrade to ceiling fan I had an old, discolored, and very LOUD bathroom fan which I wanted to replace after painting the bathroom walls and ceiling. I installed the new bath fan in a matter of minutes; the directions were simple to follow, however, it was a bit tricky to get the 2nd hanging clip into the slot but I was finally able to make that connection, and now I have a clean, updated, and very QUIET ceiling fan. It's amazing how a small upgrade to a bathroom fixture you wouldn't even notice made such a difference in the look of the bathroom, as well as the efficiency and quietness of the operation of the bath fan. Don't hesitate to buy this bath fan upgrade kit, it looks great and runs efficiently and quietly.

Grill is a bit of a challenge if you have fat or short fingers, but doable. I replaced the old fan as it had become almost lawnmower loud. Although the volume is comparable, the noise is not as obnoxious as the old fan, mainly because of the squirrel cage fan design. Of course, we turn on the fan for multiple reasons - to remove foul odors, but also to cover for unpleasant noises. This fan accomplishes both for a reasonable price and minimal effort. It could be quieter, but at least it is doesn't vibrate or sound like a lawnmower inside your house, which is the only reason I gave it a four.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy, Fast, Quiet, the Best My bathroom fan was working fine but after a few years it was kind of loud, so gave it a shot and tried to upgrade, and I did not know how easy it was going to be. pull the old one out slowly, squeezed the pins and took out the cover, unplugged the old fan, and unhooked it and it was out. to install the new one, was as simple as taking the older one out. the only one thing that it took me longer was to put the cover on. I have big hands so it took a few tries and done. I did notice the difference of how quiet it is, the older one had a higher tone, this one has a lower tone so still makes some sound but it is a lower sound so it does make a big difference. I did not tell my wife I changed it, to know if she noticed the difference, she did and that is a plus. it is well done, no problems at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy upgrade without having to replace I have a 18 yr old house with builder-grade finishes that look like they were from the 60s. It also looks like the previous owner didn't know what "cleaning" was. The fan in the guest bathroom was loud and barely did anything to dehumidify it after a shower. And since this was our guest bath, I really didn't want to spend a lot of money or time on replacing the fan. In comes the Quickit Bath Fan upgrade. This made replacing the worn fan a cinch. This one is so much quieter and actually clears out the after-shower fog pretty quick. And it was simple to install. If you really don't want to get up into your attic to replace a fan, you should be very happy with this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy retrofit I had a combination fan and light kit that I installed about eight years ago. The fan motor sounded awful and the finish was failing. I was not sure of the manufacturer so when I saw this item I took a chance and picked it up. Luck smiled upon me and the fixture that needed attention was also a NuTone. I did not pay attention to the fact that the new fan came with a new trim panel. I decided not to reuse the fixture at all only the duct housing and electric. Despite the fan being slightly smaller it was simple to modify it to fit the old housing. I used picture frame hanging bars attached to the housing to accept the spring catches for the new trim panel. The specs on both fan motors were identical but this new motor is about 1/3 the noise and easily matches the originals performance. I nice quick fix to a noisy eye sore. I would definitely recommend the product.
