Should work fine...
The Oatey 1 1/4" Sink Drain Pipe Slip Joint with Red Rubber Washer is from a quality plumbing parts manufacturer, Oatey Pruducts. It is manufactured from zinc, which is normally rust-resistant. They rubber washer is flexible tmso that it can easily be slipped over the downpipe or used on the trap. Most others that I have used are beveled. This washer is flat. It should work just fine when tightened. It is made in China.
Great Product. This is convenient if you need just the either the slip join nut or rubber washer when doing small drain replacement jobs or if you are doing a full replacement. The quality is very good and I would expect the product to last a very long time. I have personally never had any issues with longevity and I have been using Oatey product for a long time.
Good for what I needed. I do prefer plastic, but since our pipe coming out of the wall was galvanized and sharp, the plastic didn't hold on and would tear the threads. I used this, but also used plumbers grease to help it go on and help the next guy remove it. But if you're removing one of these or installing it, don't squeeze it with a wrench or it'll literally bend/break.
I needed this Oatey sink slip-joint nut with its rubber reducing washer to use with a P-trap under my sink. I very much liked the sturdiness and ease of use of the nut. It came with a thick rubber washer that eliminated the need for another washer. Once I placed the washer and nut over the P-trap, it created a water-tight seal and did not leak. I finished up using plumbers putty (which I almost always use as an extra layer of safety.)
This 1 1/4 inch zinc nut and washer work out perfect for our project in our kids bathroom. We installed a new vanity with a new sink and replace the the drain pipes underneath the sink. This nut and washer are a very high quality material especially the washer and it fits snug around the pipe and when you bring the nut down and tighten it up everything is a snug fit like you want it to be and you don't have to worry about leaks either. The nut is a slip joint nut and when place your pliers on the nut you really don't have to worry about them slipping off the nut. Everything is made with high-quality materials and should last a very long time. I have to highly recommend this product.

These zinc plated "pot metal" slip nuts used on flushometer tailpieces and kitchen sinks waste lines simply are not durable and will rot out in a few years requiring the same repair on a ongoing basis. I was hoping Home Depot would stock both the 1-1/4 inch and 1-1/2 inch slip nuts in chrome plated "brass" and would be gladly willing to pay more if they were stocked. Picture below clearly shows these slip nuts rotting out in less than 5-7 years requiring a complete re-do. Note that when you start getting tell tale signs of weep age it's a clear indication either the rubber washer or actual slip nut has failed. Hope about stocking either a better quality slip nut or preferably heavy chrome plated solid brass slip nuts in bulk packages Home Depot?
