Thank you for your interest in Hillman products. No, this product is not suitable for such an application.
Hi and thank you for your inquiry. This item could work in this type of application.
It is 1.29 mm
To match what the picture appears to show, you'll need metal strapping (some call it banding). The tools and material to put metal strapping in place can get pretty pricey if you only use it a couple of times. (They do make fabric banding, nylon or polyester I believe, but it's also spendy if you only use it a few times.) I'd go with Von's answer -- double wrap it. If you feel that isn't strong enough and you don't want to spend the money for a strapping setup, you might consider using wire rope, with ferrules, and put a turnbuckle in-line to adjust the tension. Your final result might look something like this (plus the turnbuckle) https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-3-16-in-x-6-ft-Galvanized-Steel-Security-Cable-Wire-Rope-803182/203958878
Hi Josh and thank you for your inquiry. This particular item is not on a spool.
This 16 gauge baling wire has 0.0031 sq inch area, based on the minimum fastener steel tensile requirement of 60,000 psi, the actual breaking strength is more than 186 lb. Since this wire can be used for hanging ceiling lights, mirrors, etc. the safety factor would be at least 3, so the 55 lb capacity was specified. I use this wire as shark fishing hook leader, a little stiff, but a 9-ft great white's sharp teeth could not chop it.
16 swg
No, wire will not corrode.
