how do you cut this product?

I cut it but taping a rule to the place I wanted cut and going over it a lot of times with a razor knife but I am should there is a better way.

How much light does it let through? Has it been tested with a par meter? Better than glass??

the light intensity is lower but it seems like the light covers a broader space. I am guess but I would say 80 percent of the light comes through.
