Will this work under an executive chair on casters (rollers) which sits on thick plush carpeting?
Asked by: Toni
No it will break sooner or later. You can however get some rolled plastic that comes in different thicknesses that will work for that purpose. I did this at home under my wife's computer desk to prevent scrapes when she pushes it away from her chair.

Would this work as a wood deck floor protector for a rocking chair. Chair is causing wear on the wood deck. Maybe a thicker sheet necessary? If not appropriate for such use, any suggestions for alternatives. Thanks.
Asked by: RE
Rich, The acrylic would make the rocker slide around. Get one of those mats they use under office chairs. You could even glue a carpet remnant on the back side for more protection. Dee Dee

2 Questions: 1. What is the difference between Acrylic and Polycarbonate? 2. Is it better to buy larger pieces and cut them to fit or to purchase smaller pieces and secure them together? My puppy has finally outgrown ripping our screens in the covered porch/patio/deck area; however, we are still going to replace the bottom portion (where there is wooden railing/fencing) with some sort of plexiglass and aren't sure which product and size to start with (the top portion will still be screen).
Asked by: MGR
I hate to come so late to the dance, but for the benefit of others who will be interested in the answers to your question in the future: Polycarbonate (Lexan) has a number of advantages over plexiglass/acrylic (Lucite): 1. Polycarb is easier to cut (with a variety of saws that you can't use on acrylic) 2. It's virtually unbreakable (whereas acrylic is not) 3. It's UV resistant (unlike acrylic, it won't crack after being out in the sun for lengthy periods of time) 4. You can drill it without worrying about cracks developing around the holes (with acrylic, the closer the holes are to the edge of the piece, the more likely it is that cracks will develop). I can only think of two disadvantages to polycarbonate, compared to acrylic: 1. Polycarb scratches very easily (you have to be very careful even just cleaning it) 2. Polycarb is much more expensive (expect to pay at least two and a half times more for a square foot of polycarb than for acrylic)
