What is temperature when brewing

Hi. I can honestly say that no one has ever asked me about the temperature of coffee made by the Oxx Coffeebox. I did not know, so first tried to check on the Oxx.com website. It apparently is down, so at the moment I cannot say if they provide any specific data online. I next checked my owner's manual and there was no specific temperature listed. So I did what I should have done in the first place - made multiple cups and checked with a temperature probe. The temperature was consistently between 180 and 184 degrees. Some other information for comparison: 1. Starbucks serves its coffee at 190 degrees. Personally I think it is too hot. 2. Coffee industry recommends that brewers make coffee at temperatures between 197 and 205 degrees to obtain optimum flavor. However, studies done for consumer preference found that the recommended temperature range for brewing a "good" cup of coffee was 160-180 degrees. 3. I have a Keurig coffeemaker that has settings up to 192 degrees. I have it set at 192 degrees, and it consistently produces coffee at 175-185 degrees, lower than the setting but still plenty hot. 4. Skin burns can start at temperatures as low as 140 degrees. For the average person, scalding can occur when the skin is exposed to liquid at 150 degrees for approximately 1 second. 5. One scientific study of hot liquid foods attempted to identify the optimum temperature for taste and tolerance to high temperature. The optimum temperature was 140 degrees. When the study combined the preferred taste temperature with the temperature most people could tolerate without getting scalded, the exact temperature was 136 degrees. So unless your nickname is "Ole Leatherlips" the Oxx Coffeebox will make coffee that is plenty hot. For the record, I have two Coffeeboxes. One is the Black version, which we use in our travel trailer. The other is the green version, which I picked up for $50 at a hardware store that was discontinuing them. Both make a good cup of coffee and the temperatures are consistent. I have had them for more than 3 years and will not hesitate to purchase a replacement if either fails.

I bought mine through HomeDepot 3 years ago. The only problem I ever had was with the needle getting clogged from coffee grounds. The company sent a 'Cleaning Kit' which basically consisted of a syringe and small clear tube to fit over the needle and shove water into the needle and back out to clear it. No other issues. Great tank size and makes hot coffee. I used mine deployed and in the office.

When I first purchased this coffeeboxx I received an email saying it would take 6 weeks to deliver! Once i received a tracking number (3 days after purchase) I find its two states away, a 6 1/2 hour drive! Now I work in the transportation industry and I understand you're not going to send a truck with my coffee maker by itself to my local store. You're going to wait till you have a truckload of items (it only makes sense). Anywho it only took 3 weeks, i can live with that. Now as far as the coffeemaker goes, it would spurt and sputter and give very little coffee no matter what button you push. I did some research and watched YouTube and found a fatal design flaw. If the lid where the water tank sits does not make a solid connection you will have little to no water going in your unit. Videos suggest using cardboard a piece of rubber, basically anything to raise the tank about a millimeter. Personally i took a bottle cap off of a water bottle (one of the food store skinny bottle caps) shaved about half of the height off and found that it worked. I would imagine that you need to figure this out immediately and not run your coffeemaker without water. I can see someone buring up the pump after trying a dozen times. After that it seemed like the coffeemaker still took longer than normal but was giving an adequate amount of coffee. As i use it the coffeemaker has sped up and i would say its about as fast as a keurig. Oh and you're first 3 or 4 cups will smell like plastic. I just lived with it maybe a cleaning would help. I also bought the carrying case but it's kind of useless in my 18wheeler. If i were a journeyman (traveling contractor) the case would probably make more sense. I tried to add photos the bottlecap and placement. By the way "Coffeeboxx" by "Oxx" is this company owned by Dr.Suess? Ive heard this company has gone out of business too, good luck with tech support.

We take our Coffeeboxx to a monthly rocket launch in the desert in California. The dust is terrible, but this is the first 'portable' coffee maker that has been resistant to the elements. We love it. The coffee quality is surprisingly better and richer than our expensive Keurig. The fact that this machine is fully self contained (retractable cord, water tight, strong handle) makes it ideal for rough people in rough enviroments

I Really love this rugged coffee Maker. The sealed water container and fast heating is awesome. Make sure your press the water container lid tight. So it makes a seal to draw water from the tank. I installed this in my 4x4 rig. with 3000 watt inverter. Coffee on the beach and in the mountains off road. Oh Yeah!
