This Oatey SCS Quiet Pipes 1/2 in. x 1/2 in. Low-Lead Brass Pipe Thread x Pipe Thread Water Hammer Absorber helps eliminates water pipe banging caused by quick-closing valves by absorbing the shock. Can be installed in many positions and has low lead.

AnswerNo. Those screws are what hold the valve to the tailpiece. Yes the valves in our supply boxes are 1/2" valves.

I installed this in my washing machine hot and cold lines and it did not stop the water banging wish I could take back to store but already thrown away my packages if I am allowed to still bring them back please someone let me know thank you

Replaced my shower and I removed the dead head pipes and installed those thing. They GENERATE noise.....
Since they're installed it doesn't matter which faucet I open and close I can hear them bang in the wall every single time. I don't want to touch the shower so 'll have to rip open the kitchen wall to get them out of there and replace them with I don't know which arrestor. So pleased!!!!!

If I could give this product a zero (0) I would. Although it doesn't take much to install, this product made zero (0) improvement with our water hammer. We were hopeful on first test we ran when it created a slight "chuck" sound, no banging. By the second test, it was back to full hammer, shaking pipes on all 3 floors of our house. The previous Oatey quiet pipes we had worked for several years, but this one simply did not work at all...

I had some knocking in the house I bought. Talked to a plumber and recommended this product. He told him that it had to be installed straight up or it would not work. Instant fix to the problem. I was a little afraid I would need the bigger model, if the small ones didn't work.

These made no difference in the hammering we got right after installing a new LG front loading washer. The washer is excellent, but the way the cycles function, causes the pipes to pound. These had zero effect on that, on ether side (cold or hot, 2 absorbers used). Perhaps my angle and location are wrong, but they should have made some noticeable difference.
