I live in the northeast. Will this work in the winter without fogging the lense?
Asked by: Gambler
I have 3 with 1 being newer version. None have had any issues in the NW. Fog will trigger mine to record, specifically at night with the night vision you can see particles moving around in the air.

It took about 5 minutes to setup, including the time to download the iOS app. I have much more expensive cams that don’t compare in video quality or ease of setup. I installed a 65gb SD card formatted with exFAT and it works fine for continuous recording. I do which I could get to the webcam via a website but that is minor. The iOS app is ok and bet it will be improved over time, it’s not bad just basic.

This camera was confusing at first because the instructions in the box do not help. But i went online to the coco website and called the 24hr customer service number (888) 683-8950 and he helped me set ip up quickly. Everything you need is indeed inside the box. You do not need to buy anything extra like an injector you don't ned it. You just need to connect one cable from the plug in adapter to your modem the the other cable from the plug in adapter to the camera and that's it. Then go to website and sign up to make an account then type in you camera MAC address then it will prompt you step by step then you are connected. I usually don't write reviews but i thought this could really help someone i hope it does. Don't listen to that other review where he says he you need to buy an injector IT'S NOT TRUE!

But the software sucks: I don't want to pay for cloud, so I use free cloud 10 sec "events" in their cloud. But those clips are hardly useful, since it only captures last 2-3 sec of motion. The pre-recording takes like 5-7 sec and nothing is useful for those pre-recordings (still scenes). If they change the software to make pre-recording 2 sec, and real motion longer, it would be a solid camera. The tech support actually is quite response and fast. In the end. I need to return it.

It comes with two Ethernet cables (longest one is only 25 ft). I had to purchase 100 ft CAT 5e for installation. For the WiFi set up, you need to make sure cameras are mounted in the desired location first. The Ivideon server for the network doesn't recognize special characters in the WiFi name; so if your WiFi has any apostrophe in it, you need to call the router company to change the WiFi name first. Even then, if your WiFi strength is weak, which you don't necessarily know until you encounter connection issue, then you'll need to get extenders or a stronger router, which is what I did. If you have a new router and the cameras were set up with the previous router, then you'll need to reset the cameras. One of my cameras didn't work and it turned out the cable included in the box was defective. After a trial and error, we found out that the problem wasn't the WiFi but the cable connecting from the camera to the power adapter. Please be advised that Ivideon Tech Support team is in Moscow, Russia. There's a 10 hour time difference. Although tech support is available during the day time in U.S., the high level specialists aren't available during our normal business hours. The wait time is relatively long, about 40 min to 1 hour, before you can speak with a tech support. While they're nice, not all of them are helpful or knowledge about your specific case. I've spoken to 3 techs and the last person who helped me, Alex, was the most helpful tech.

Don't buy this camera for outdoor monitoring unless you want to monitor your front door and nothing more. It would detect a UPS truck on the street, which is about 50 feet from the camera, but nothing smaller than that. No cars, no post office vehicle, certainly not a person walking by. That's all during the daytime. At night, it will detect cars, however it will also record hours of rainfall and/or snowfall. This might work great indoors, but I can't imagine claiming this is an outdoor camera if rain and snow set it off. Look elsewhere if you want a real outdoor monitoring camera. On the plus side, the people from iVideon tried to help me make adjustments to the settings, but also caused me to fiddle for the camera for more than the 30-day warranty period. Now I am stuck with an expensive camera that sees UPS trucks reliably.

The instructions for setup were clear only the camera would not register requiring going online for chat support which was excellent even at 2 a.m. in the morning. Chat support was able to activate my camera remotely and helped me to maneuver Ivideon.com to enable me to view live footage on my phone, iPad and computer. After having it up two days now, I've experienced a lot of feed drops and needed to refresh the Live recording quite a bit. This feed failure might just defeat the whole purpose of having a surveillance camera for our home. I also got quite a few motion sensed "events" at night from wind blowing the bushes, but I guess I'd rather the camera be too sensitive than not. Hopefully this will work out, but I think just having a camera out front by the door and driveway might be enough of a deterrent to keep thieves away. I'd rather our camera be out front and visible than hidden. Night vision is not a problem because I have a low cost LED floodlight pointed out in the same direction as the camera. I was able to drive a large enough hole from the exterior of the house to the interior of our living room and then fish the ethernet cord down inside the wall and back out to plug into an electrical outlet for power. Worked out great not having any cords visible and the hole inside the living room is hidden behind a painting.

Unfortunately, even though the description says no monthly fees, the reality is that all you can record, without paying for an Ivideon cloud plan... are 10 second clips to the microsd card. Forget recording to your server, desktop, or another cloud, you have to use their plan to be able to record anything longer than 10 second clips. If there is a way, I have not figured it out. Seems to be a scam to get you to buy cloud packages. Might be OK for someone looking to buy a cloud plan from Ivideon but with so may choices out there...why would you!
