No it doesnt. Our grandson threw some pea gravel into the lawn and it just stayed in the lawn when it ran over it sweeping up the cut grass.

Both wheels are geared to turn the brushes.

Asked by Nancy March 15, 2021

As long as it has had some time to dehydrate I don't think it would be a problem. This is truly an amazing lawn sweeper, quite frankly the best I have ever owned.

Can you back this unit up to a dump pile?

Asked by Mary March 23, 2020

You can but it is a little tricky until you get the hang of it. It is similar to backing up a trailer. As a side note, this is the best lawn sweeper you will ever buy! I wore out my first one after about 8 years and did not hesitate to buy another just like it.

I am still trying to slide the stop bar into the hopper bag pocket after grinding and grinding i am still a foot or more from having it in … Terrible workmanship I am just ready to dump ut at the Palatka Home Depot and except the monetary loss as a lesson learned. Still trying to get it back out so i can grind some more

Today, I picked up my lawn sweeper after what seemed to be an eternity but that was UPS's fault... First of, I would like to state that at first I bought the Brinely Lawn Sweeper and after many hours over a three day period I simply could not get it assembled. I returned it to Home Depot and ordered this one. I got it home and in 28 minutes, it was completely assembled and it seems to be a better quality than the Brinely and even though I have not used it yet (that is tomorrow) I am excited to use it. I will update with the ratings for Ease of Use and Value once I check it out.

Overall the sweeper worked well but there were a few other issues. Assembly instructions were not the best. Took two people to assemble the sweeper. No info on why there are two connection levels (where it attaches to the tractor.) When done, the sweeper did do a nice job of picking up leaves that were left after the snow melted. (grass was dry). Recommend downloading the parts list and instructions to your computer (from the Home Depot site) so you always have a copy.

Just put this together, super easy, quick assembly, and hit the yard. Love it. Picks up pine needles, leaves that sat over winter, even branches about 1 1/2 inches thick. This will be a huge time saver for a very large yard with a variety of different trees. Love it. Very happy I bought it.

Really a good quailty effective lawn sweeper
I would buy this sweeper again. I ordered it from Home Depot and it was drop shipped from the mfg, Ohio Steel. Upon unpacking, there were a couple of issues. One, there was a blemish on the housing, most likely from transit. The housing was slightly bent but this did not reduce functionality. A couple of rust spots in the frame from moisture in the packaging bags was also noticed. Assembly was straight forward. I did have a couple of questions and contacted Ohio Steel customer service. Those people are extremely helpful and stand behind their products. Good old-fashioned mid-west American values. I photographed the issues and made them aware. They very quickly offered to send replacement parts for free but that was not warranted. The sweeper itself performs exceptionally well and is well built. It is into its first season but I have not experienced any problems. Keep in mind that his is a sweeper, and not a vacuum. It sweeps the lawn surface only. It does not suck up debris. Looking forward to fall and he leaf season. The sweeper can be dumped effectively without leaving the tractor seat. The hopper fills well with a proper travel speed of about 3-4 ft/sec, It is thorough at picking up grass clippings with proper height adjustment. Height adjustment on these type sweepers is critical. Too high and the brushes do not pick up and too low, the wheels are unable to drive the brushes due to drag. If the operator changes mower blade height, the sweeper height must also be adjusted but that is very easily accomplished. Also, sharp undulations in ground surface will reduce effectiveness. The 42 inch width is good for coverage but before purchase, measure any openings that the unit will have to go through, like the door on the storage facility or such places. There was a surface treatment or preservative on the tires that resembled silicone or "Armorall" that made them slick but that quickly wore off and they get good traction. I am impressed with the build quality of this sweeper and it seems the gearing is a quality unit. Also, I am impressed with the customer service at the manufacturer. I would buy this product again.

After 3 years only one problem: Resolved by Ohio Steel
Good product, excellent value. I tow it behind my lawn tractor and it leaves my lawn looking like a golf course! I have used this for a few seasons, and still no complaints-especially with leaves, pine needles, small twigs, and heavy grass clippings. I dont even have to get off of my tractor to dump it! Although, after the second year of use, I noticed that the wheels were "cocked inward." After taking them off to find out why, I found that the PLASTIC wheel bearings that had worn out. I wrote the manufacturer, suggested metal wheel bearings, and had free new replacement parts within a week. For value, performance, manufacturer support, and durability I'll give it a 9 out of 10!

Parts diagram
The instructions, the numbering of parts, and the numbers labeled on the hardware board are not accurate. If you can read prints or look at a diagram, most people will be able to figure out how the assembly should be done. But if you can't, you will be in trouble. None of the major parts are labeled with numbers has shown in the assembly diagrams. The hardware parts are labeled, but they do not match the numbers/letters shown in the assembly instructions. One spring clip was missing from one of the major basket parts and I had to call the manufacture and get the missing part. That added a few days to the assembly process. Assembly is not a one person job, especially the basket. All tolled, it probably took two hours to figure out the correct hardware parts and match the major structural pieces to assemble together. The sweeper worked well the first time I used it and it does save time and effort. This was used for grass at this time. Looking forward to leaves in the fall.

Easy to assemble and I really like being able to adjust the height setting to sweep up or not as I travel to another section of yard. I would recommend this to everyone.

Only used it 3 times but so far I am satisfied. Does a good job picking up grass, twigs, sweetgum balls, leaves, etc. Easy to assemble in about a half hour. The package is very cheap cardboard that fell apart in the UPS truck but the driver did a good job collecting all the parts and it was undamaged. During assembly one of the spring loaded pipe bearings popped out but that piece is under alot of tension anyway that keeps if secure. Overall it works well cleaning up the yard.
