The 6 I just got from the store are closer to 7 5/8 x 7 5/8 x 15.5. Is that how they are supposed to be?

The store label and my receipt say 8x8x16... I'm not a mason, is it common for them to be so short? Or is it done this way to force customers to by more then they need? I need 24 inches high, not 23...
Asked by: GG
The "finished" size of your block will be the size stated. The blocks are made to this slightly reduced size to allow for the mortar mix between the blocks.

I would see them peeking out from behind the bushes or scatter when I would pull up the driveway. But I could have never guessed just how many there are. They circle the concrete block day and night! Nature is WILD! So cool!

Because of cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure I get very dizzy and about pass out when I bend over. So, I used the Oldcastle concrete blocks to build my raised beds so I don't have to bend over. My brother and niece helped me build the raised beds. I don't use motor which helps in keeping the right amount of moisture in the beds especially after heavy rains. The bed on the left is my salad raised bed. The two in the middle are strawberries. The short bed is carrots and beets. The back bed is half strawberries and the other half is onions.I recommend using concrete blocks because the beds will last for years and years! The only drawback is occasionally I have to re-stack a couple blocks here and there due to expanding and contraction but it's a small price to pay to have fresh veggies! btw... I built the screens to keep the squirrels and my chickens from eating my veggies :)

One point to the buyer, make sure you keep count on how many you purchase, then count them as they get loaded. I ended up two short on the count, which was ok as I bought three extra in case of breakage.
