Convenience and Value
Olympic Waterguard offers a ready to use wood stain that dries in 12-24 hours when applied at 50°F to 85°F.
How much stain is needed
The size of your project will determine how much stain you need. Solid stain color requires two coats.
Clean your deck
Sweep debris from deck, then use Olympic Premium Deck Cleaner to wash away dirt and stains caused by mildew.
Deck prep
Tape off surfaces you don't want stained. Avoid staining decks in direct sunlight to avoid uneven drying.
Wood stain application
For even coverage, apply the stain to one board at a time. For best results, backbrush into the wood surface.
Clear Stain
Clear finish allows your wood to weather and gray naturally. Least Protection, Most Wood Grain.
Transparent/Toner
Slight hint of stain color that highlights wood grain. Less Protection, More Wood Grain.
Semi-Transparent

Never Fully Dries - Sticky Mess
This stuff is an absolute waste of time and has ruined my project. The bad reviews one here 100% coincide with my experience. It has a this film that rubs off every time i touch. It never fully dries, and is a sticky oily mess. All and all its a total mess, even after an application of their clear "Sealer". About $40 down the drain so far on this project the following day. Note: conditions -> This is after 24hrs of cure time, not super hot, not super cold and about 30% humidity.

Perfect protection from and kind of weather
This was exactly what I needed with perfect results. The photo I show does not do it justice. A beautiful finish, and perfect protection from rain, sun, and snow. Highly recommended!!

It’s great!
I was a little skeptical getting this, I’d assume it wouldn’t work since my dad insisted I get some fancier one I’m super impressed. Got this to cover my kids playhouse before it rained so it wouldn’t get ruined. The water is pretty much repelled off it!

Worst piece of junk EVER!!!
I purchased this spray to seal a few wooden armrests from some patio chairs that had been exposed to the elements for, I guess a few years. After thoroughly sanding the armrests, I decided to use this product to seal them and protect them from mother nature for the next few years. The product clearly indicates that it works on wood--as well as other surfaces! Boy, what a waste of money this product turned out to be! There's another Olympic spray that's made specifically for wood, but after reading several reviews indicating that the product "never" really dries, I decided to take a stab at this one and boy, what a huge mistake it was! After applying this spray on the wooden armrests (at 12" distance as indicated by the instructions), it left a nasty whitish film that stained my entire project! (See pictures). I ended up applying another product (TWP) with a paint brush, which is an excellent deck sealant, but it was able to cover the white stains left by this piece of junk! So not only did I end up wasting my money but my time too! I just wish that at least I could get the money I paid for this product back. Who knows, maybe it does a good job sealing concrete or other surfaces but definitely not wood. Bottom line: AVOID THIS PRODUCT ON WOOD SURFACES AT ALL COSTS!!!

non-uniform stain
I followed instructions to a T on storage and application. It started out a beautiful hue and got darker and darker. Deck looks veey bad now. I shook the can every time before pouring into the paint pan to ensure it was well mixed. I applied only when the deck was shaded. It was under 90F temp. Applied an even amount throughout. Seriously disappointed in the outcome

This is an excelent solution for "painting" when the area you need to either protect from rust or humidity is framed or adjacent to another surfa ce or material with a different color. For there is no need to use blue tape or be afraid of spray mist falling over such areas with an unwanted color.

30 year old deck so I started by power washing it using a deck cleaner/mildew resistant product which worked pretty good. Deck now looks like new! Then after it dried out for a couple days I liberally applied the Olympic Waterguard waterproofing sealant.
Deck looks like new and after a hard rain I could see the water puddling. So it seems this product does a really good job. Very pleased with the results.
