will it grow in the southwest heat?

Asked by: lucille
Hi, Lucille, thank you for your question. The 'Magnus is native to the Eastern & Southeastern USA and grows in USDA Plant Zones 3-8. While it will tolerate dry soils and drier conditions, the plant would not thrive in the heat of the Southwest.

my cone flower plant from Home Depot had multiple cones, not a single flower, why?
Asked by: Piyali
Hello, it is possible that your Coneflowers are being affected by Eriophyid mites, which live and feed on the insides of flower buds. Symptoms include stunted growth and distorted flowers, often with just cones and no petals. Treat with insecticidal soap or neem oil. Another possibility for the distorted flowers is a disease called Aster yellows, which is transmitted through insects. There is no treatment for this disease.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mine are doing okay, so far First, buy these in the store if possible. They are significantly cheaper. I planted two southern belle, one white swan, and one magnus purple cultivar the same day i bought them. The vibrant and healthy plants began to yellow and wilt within 2 days. After soaking the ground (way more water than you'd think you'd need), they perked up.

I purchased this plant to use at my daughters grave site which is frequented by deer. I was under the impression that they didn't like to eat it. Well I guess that isn't the case, they have chewed it down to the dirt. Hopefully it will continue to grow since it is a perennial. The plant came to me healthy and promptly.

I only received one! of the correct flowers I order. They sent me the wrong firewitch plant. On top of it, they sent me a weed thinking it was the cone daisy? I received these orders may 10,2018 hoping they would bloom into what I ordered. Since it’s been a month, I come to realization they sent me the wrong type of flower and a weed. I looked up firewitch plant and they sent me the wrong one. They sent me the smaller, darker type.. It doesn’t even math the picture On Home Depot website or in my order history. But it does match google search for firewitch plant! Google shows the two types of flowers & they sent me the wrong one. If I could post a pictures of this to explain better; I would. I’m so upset they sent me the wrong flower type, that doesn’t even match the websites picture! And I’m upset they sent me a weed thinking it was the cone daisy ?! $50 on the wrong plant and a weed ? Thought Home Depot had better standards then this. That’s why I chose Home Depot, very disappointed. Doesn’t even deserve ONE start, I rate ZERO! Posted a picture with the weed plant! Was hoping these would bloom into daisy, but they look more like a wild weed!!!!!!!!
