Dividing Perennials Guide
Superb cultivar of an old fashioned favorite and the 2003 Perennial Plant of the Year, the sturdy upright stems of this perennial bear 3 in. wide, single, daisy like, white flowers with contrasting yellow centers. Blooms all summer and well into fall, much later than other Shastas. Long valued by gardeners, this butterfly attractant is great for fresh garden bouquets, in the perennial border, in mass, and in large containers.
  • An old standard for the perennial border
  • Vigorous habit, growing well in almost all climates
  • An excellent perennial for both formal and informal gardens
  • Exceptional, long lasting cut flower
  • Ships in a 6 in. tall & wide black nursery pot
  • We're sorry, but due to state regulations, this plant cannot ship to Colorado, Montana, Washington, or Wyoming
  • Performs best in plant growing zones 4 to 8, when grown in other zones, special care requirements will be needed to protect the plant from extremely hot or cold conditions
  • To accommodate mature size or when planting in groups, space 36 in. away from other plants or structures
  • This plant is a perennial, which means each it will re-grow each year. Be aware that it will die back to the ground each winter; and, while it may look dead during this season, it is simply conserving its energy so it can grow again in Spring

What size area will grow 1 gal. of daisies? Do they need daily soaking with water? Will they mul...

Asked by Sis March 28, 2017

Answer

Hi Sis, the Becky Daisy will spread 1-3 ft. over time. Grow in full sun (or light shade in hot areas) and moist but well-drained soil of average fertility. They usually do not require daily water soaking because they do not like "wet feet" but will wilt when the soil is completely dry, such as during the hot summer months, so regular watering is very important, especially if planted in drier soils. Deadhead regularly to prolong bloom period. Divide every two or three years to maintain vigor. What size pot would you use to plant

Asked by Patti March 5, 2017

Answer

Hello, Patti, the plant is currently in a 6" wide with a 6" depth pot, so any container larger than this will suffice, with 10" diameter being ideal.

Hello, Erby. This Shasta daisy blooms each year from July to September. For maximum color, remove spent (dead) flower heads to promote additional blooms.

disappointed
Came in smaller than expected. And sadly so tossed around it is barely recognizable to be a plant. Some 1-2 inch green leaves under mulch and dirt. This should cost around 4.98. Shameful. I’m not that picky but come on guys

I hope the flowers turn out as well as the picture; I wish the description would list the size/diameter of daisy's so I'll know it they match my current daisy's in the back yard. I'm happy the plants were alive and once planted for last two weeks seems to take hold in normal dirt with no special prep. The flowers were all rooted together; so I had to separate them out carefully and cut a little bit off of some roots to get them apart. So, gain very happy that the plants were healthy enough to take the cutting and separating out and continue to grow.

Worst purchaseI I ever made online
I purchased online because the product showing was exactly what I wanted. Daises were my "wedding bouquet" 40+ years ago, so I was excited about planting some now I have a garden. Also bought online so I would not have to drive about 30 miles as I was on a media deadline. Below is a photo of what I received. They were not in gallon pots. I immediately called customer service in Atlanta, gentleman was very polite and said I could return them, but no you don't pick them up I have to take them to a Home Depot!! Delighted you asked as I was trying to find time to call again and let you know that the product that is being sent out is not what it should be and you should know about it.

Thought I'd be getting a gallon-sized plant....
Home Depot describes this as a one gallon plant, but my plant arrived as a single stalk, about eighteen inches tall and weighing three ounces. $19 for this seems extremely excessive, Maybe Home Depot meant that when it reaches its full growth it eventually becomes gallon-sized, but I wish they had made that clearer in the description. I realize it will eventually grow and fill out, but not what I thought I was ordering.

They were pretty crushed and beaten up when we opened the box. The outside of the box looked fine. They are progressing slowly, but I'm sure they will recover.

They arrived safe and healthy. I planted them flower bed in front of the house. A few days later ALL the flowers were gone. I thought these were deer resistant. The deer had a delightful snack. Maybe others are having better luck. In NW New Jersey the deer love Shasta Daisies. If you don't have deer issues, I would recommend them to you. Wasn't quite sure how to rate this because of the deer eating them. If I didn't have the deer issue, I would have been happy! It is one of the main reasons I bought them - pretty and deer resistant. Our deer love them!
