Deciduous shrub with showy, mophead, globular flowers in mid to late summer. Abundant flowers are blue in acidic soil and pink in alkaline soil. This big leaf Hydrangea has a rounded habit and lustrous, medium green foliage. Makes a nice specimen or accent near the patio or in the shrub border. In mass, these floriferous shrubs create a stunning border.
  • Blooms earlier than other Hydrangea, lasting up to 2 months
  • Rounded, 4 in. flower clusters can bloom pink or blue, depending on soil acidity levels
  • No serious insect or disease problems
  • Superb shrub for specimen or accent usage
  • 1 gal. ships in pot unless state or federal regulations require otherwise
  • This plant ships as a bare root plant without its pot and without soil to Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington
  • When shipped as a bare root plant, the Shake&Ship system will be used to remove soil from the roots, thus increasing the root tip surface area, which in turn, greatly enhances the ability of the plant to rapidly establish itself in the new environment
  • Performs best in plant growing zones 6 to 8, when grown in other Zones, special care requirements will be required
  • To accommodate mature size or when planting in groups, space 5 ft. away from other plants or structures
  • May ship in a dormant state, with bare branches and no leaves, especially in early spring when plant has been pruned back to promote lateral branching

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We reached out to the MFG for more information and find their response below. "Thank you for your inquiry. Depending upon the local taste preferences, deer browsing can occasionally severely damage Hydrangea shrubs."

There is no one brand of soil that's better than the other. As long as the soil is well draining that's all it needs, but the most important thing for your hydrangea is shade! If you planted your hydrangea outside, hopefully you planted it under some shade. As for watering, water it daily if it's hot. Other than that if the plant is well established it needs about a weekly watering

I absolutely love these hydrangea plats. The color is so beautiful. The plants are easy to manage. They just need some shade and a regulate watering and they grow like crazy. I learned that these plants sadly don't like the heat and need the shade. I first planted these in a pot and left them out on my porch and with an hour the hydrangea started to wilt, it was to hot. So I brought it inside and gave it a watering and the plant came back to life!

I accidentally mixed my reviews this one is for the lavender plant... not the hydrangea it grew and bloomed in a month. I can not believe. The flowers are fragrant and it looks beautiful.

Brought this beauty, hoping to enjoy the beautiful purple, blue blooms. Each day it is losing it's color and luster. I am hoping to keep it alive. Does anyone have any suggestions. I water it daily, it is outside but definitely not in direct sunlight. Help!
