One plant can provide a spot of color, several in a row create a low flowering hedge.
  • An ideal landscape shrub rose with a very long bloom period
  • Twice as many petals as regular knockout roses
  • Resistant to rust, black spot and powdery mildew
  • Incredibly easy to grow and virtually maintenance free
  • 2 gal. pot, ships in pot unless state or federal regulations require otherwise
  • We’re sorry, due to state or federal regulations, this plant cannot be shipped to Arizona, California, Idaho, Indiana, Montana, New Jersey, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Utah or Washington
  • May ship in a dormant state, with bare branches and no leaves
  • Performs best in plant growing zones 5 to 9, when grown in other zones, special care will be necessary
  • To accommodate mature size or when planting in groups, space 4 ft. away from other plants or structures

Questions & Answers

Fragrant?

Are these roses fragrant or is there another type that would be better for a strong fragrance, which I want. Thank you
Asked by: Jennathomedepot
Thank you for your inquiry. The Double Red Knockout Rose has a slight spicy fragrant. For another option, 'Mr. Lincoln is a hybrid red rose with a strong scent.

can they flourish as a potted plant?

will rose thrive as a potted plant versus being planted in ground? How often should they be watered? How often should they be fertilized?
Asked by: BC
Hello, the Rose would prefer to be planted in the ground but will also grow in a pot. It should be planted into a pot with holes in the bottom for drainage and should be watered each time the soil becomes dry (test with your finger about 4" down into the soil). They should be fertilized at least once a year with Rose fertilizer. It is best to follow the instructions on the fertilizer bag itself.

I'm concerned about red rosette virus

I have 3 knockout roses. All were the type where the roots were wrapped - not in containers. All three have the red rosette virus. Are the potted ones less sussceptical to that virus? By the way all three that I have to replace were purchased from Home Depot.
Asked by: wiplyr
Hello. Red Rosette Virus is spread by eriophyid mites, most likely from nearby wild multiflora rose plants. Adult females overwinter in the cracks and crevices of the branches and twigs, making their home on the leaves in summer. The soil does not transmit disease. In the nursery, regular miticide applications are applied.

Customer Reviews

8 in. Potted Double Red Knockout Rose Plant is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Healthy plant This plant was healthy upon arrival, nice deep green leaves awaiting the flowers to appear. It was a little small in packaging, I wish I could have received a little larger.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed Product arrived packed well. We followed the instructions as directed. The plant did not survive after 3 weeks. The leaves turned brown and eventually died. Not sure it should be shipped so early in its "life." We have other box roses which we bought locally. But this item was out of stock in the local Home Depot....so we ordered it on line. Totally disappointed.
