It cannot. The light turns on when the heater is turned on. Great heater though. Works very well!
This heater is strictly radiant - no fan. There is very little noise.
NO. It will not put out enough heat to cover the entire floor of a garage by itself. If mounted overhead, the heat output at floor level is not strong enough. It would take days, if not weeks, for it to heat the garage floor to 50 degrees or more.
five to six feet long.
This portable heater is 10 amps.
Yes, this heater would make you much more comfortable in winter weather, in an enclosed garage, and remaining in your 10 x 10 foot area. Your head and shoulders will benefit more than your feet.
If securely fastened overhead, out of reach, and securely connected to an outlet with adequate wiring to handle the ten amp load, then yes, this heater would be sufficiently safe to use in a classroom. I am a retired school teacher, and I taught in rural schools with less than perfect heating, and I would consider using this heater for that purpose.
no, it does not get very warm above the heater, when the radiant heat is directed down to the floor. DO NOT mount it so that the radiant heat is directed up towards the ceiling. That seems obvious, but it never hurts to point out the obvious. It would help warm you on your porch, so long as it is securely mounted overhead and well out of any wet weather.
