I have been operating a chainsaw as a volunteer for a local Forest Preserve District for almost 30 years. Where I probably do not put in as many hours using a chainsaw as a lumberjack, I put in far more hours than the average home owner. I have always found Oregon bars and chains as more durable than what most brands of chainsaw are sold with. I do feel, however, that the last years the durability of the chains has gone down somewhat.

This is the 4th Oregon chain saw 2 pak that I have purchased in the past 3 years. My neighbor and his friend are taking down my old Yew tree in the front yard and he suggested they dig out what was left of the tree. "Left of the tree" meant the last 8 foot of the trunk, and all the roots. Since they are doing this as a gift, (I am of poor health, not Covid related) and they are truly angels from heaven. Of course I said yes to what ever they wanted to do as long as it did not include taking part of the house or sidewalk apart, or moving out of town. I purchased new Oregon chain saw blades and had all of the other tools sharpened. While working on the trunk the wife setup an umbrella to take some of the heat off, and made sure they had plenty of fluids, we all had a fairly fun time. I did what I could which was unfortunately not much, but it did do me some good to get my hands dirty. Anyway back to the review. The chain saw blades from Oregon worked beautifully and were much more durable than expected as they were cutting into roots and dirt which is the worst thing you can do to a chain saw. They have been sharpened 3 times so far and they are looking great and performing great. The 2 pak at Home Depot is a great bargain and well worth purchasing even if you don't think you may need it in the near future. Purchase it anyway, and keep the extra one oiled and in a plastic bag and you will need it sooner than you think. This can be a time saver and prevent a lot of frustration in the future if your out in the boonies with a dull blade that you forgot to sharpen before the start of the new season. Thanks to Oregon I am never frustrated.....at least with my chain saw.

2-pack was a first for me, and saved me about 30%
I've replaced my blade chain for my 16" Echo saw for over 20 years. When I got to Home Depot to get a new chain I was very pleased to see a "2-pack" of the chains which turned out to be a $10 savings. And, as always the Oregon S56 chain blades work great.
