LindaB71, keep people and pets out of the treated area until the dust has settled. It's best to keep pets away from the mound until the ants have died.
This stuff works fast, keep dogs away for a couple of hours and it should be gone.
Two or three days , our dog was curious while I was applying it. So I went outside with him to make sure he stayed out of the stuff whenever he had to use the bathroom. Then I knocked the mounds down with a rake. By that time most of the powder was gone . I wonder if the ants carry it into the mound because this happened without any rain.
