Hi Judith, The pickets are not kiln-dried, but we do not know if the mill will send wet wood or dried. What you can do, though, is contact the store that you want to either order the wood from or pick it up from; someone in the lumber department should be able to examine the wood or at least tell you what they've been stocking. If the wood that you get is wet, we suggest that you use "stickers" of wood that are the same size, placed at 2 ft. intervals below and above the stacked pickets to facilitate drying. To discourage warping, you could place a weight -something like a cement block or some bricks at each end of the stack. Depending on the climate where you live and the conditions in which the wood is laying, it could be a couple of weeks (or more) until the wood is dry. You can test it by splashing wood on a board, then letting it sit for 10 minutes. If the wood absorbs the water, it is ready to use - install, paint, stain, seal, but if the water is still sitting there, it's got more drying to do. Speaking of sealing and staining/painting, we can tell you that all wood weathers, and any sort of treatment applied to it will help to slow the inevitable aging that wood experiences when used out-of-doors. Even if you love the weathered look of cedar, a colorless sealer will give it a longer life.

Hi John, You must be referring to the 6-pack that these pickets are bundled as. For some people, it is convenient to take a pack(age) of 6 home to replace a few pickets in a fence, or for some other project. We also sell these pickets singly or as pre-built panels.
