This planter is made with thermally-modified cedar, which offer a richer brown color and a natural resistance to insects and rot. The planter is raised 27-1/2 in. off the ground, so you can garden with less strain on your back and knees. With a 7-3/4 in. planting depth, it's ideal for herbs and other small plants.           A:  Hi Ila, If you return to the product page for the planter, the third photo down on the left side of the page has a video with details. You will see that a power drill with Phillips drill bit is recommended, but the same could be done with a Phillips screwdriver, albeit in a longer period of time. With the drill, 30 minutes of time is about all that assembly requires. The video should help with "dummy proofing." We think that with a friend or helper, the two of you could watch the short assembly video and feel confident in assembling this product.

            So far so good. Have had the planter assembled and in place for about a month and is holding up well (through heavy winds, rain, etc.). No way of knowing how well it will hold up over a matter of years. One complaint - wood will splinter some unless you spend the time to pre-drill holes when assembling.

            Some pieces aren't predrilled, but still nice
            There were 2 issues with assembly, but I do really like the product. Issue #1, the corner posts are the only pieces that are predrilled. None of the flat boards (side pieces) are, so it's a challenge getting the long screws in unless you drill pilot holes. Issue #2 was that this planter was surprisingly difficult to square up. I took the time to do it, but it proved frustrating and took awhile to get it right. That said, it's a sturdy planter, with liner sized to fit. I'm putting wheels on mine.

              Everything was easy to assemble but the wooden base of the box was so crooked. It still fits but there are large gaps. For almost 90$ the kit should be assembled properly. I would have rather screwed the boards in myself so I could assure they were straight.
