This product has a sticky layer of tar that sticks well to the layer under it, and seals around any punctures. It has a sandpaper like surface on top that provides good traction. It was easy to work with in temperatures from 70 F to 90 F. It gets pretty sticky as it gets hotter. The dual peel backing makes it easy to install. I would give it a higher rating if it had a little thicker tar layer. This is my first experience with it so I do not know how long it will hold up under the roofing but I used it as I believe it will hold up better and provide better long term sealing. Time will tell.
