Q:Can roof shingles be painted to change color?

A: Hello Michael, Owens Corning does not make any recommendations on the painting of asphalt roofing shingles. Owens Corning roofing shingles are not designed for nor expected to be painted. The surface oils and higher UV exposure will limit the effectiveness and longevity of paint applied to roofing shingles. The Owens Corning Warranty on Roofing Shingles covers defects of roofing shingles caused by the manufacturing process of the shingles. Any issues caused by the painting of Owens Corning Roofing Shingles will not be covered by the warranty. Thank you for your inquiry!

A: Hello Melissa, One bundle of Oakridge Shingles covers a minimum of 30.8 sq. ft. Most roofing jobs require anywhere from 2% to 10% excess shingles due to trim waste. The amount of trim waste depends on how many valleys, dormers, hips and roof penetrations. Thank you for your inquiry!

Q:Can I use this Oakridge Onyx product for a lower slope roof? The pitch is around 3 in12, but the structure is in a spot with a lot of wind debris and rain for much of each year. Past products have really held debris and supported moss growth. . .

A: Hello ToolShed, The minimum slope Owens Corning Oakridge Shingles can be installed on is 2:12. While these shingles are algae resistant, the algae-inhibiting technology this covers cyanobacteria gloeocapsa magma, this does not cover green algae or moss growth. Thank you for your inquiry!
