R-19 - R-60 AttiCat PINK Fiberglass Blown-in Insulation 27.5 lb (1 Bag)

This is my 3rd time buying the insulation and using the machine. The insulation is great, but the machine remote wasn’t working and I didn’t know that until I was up in the attic and had crawled to the opposite side away from the attic entrance.?. I did 2 rental houses. 8 bags for one and 6 bags in the other. I’m sure the tenants will be happy with their utility bills in the future compared to the past.

New house, ranch style with loft and eves. We were having a MAJOR draft issue it the eves, traditional insulation. Even though it was R49 cold air was coming in from the seams and around the trusses where it was stapled up. We bought this and got the free machine rental. Well worth it!!! We filled the eves with 36+ inches of blow in. Easy, and effective!!! Did 10 bags in about 3 hours. 2 people are a plus. Wear a good n95 mask and eye protection . House came up 10 degrees the next day!

The hardest part is doing the prep work, Installing baffles and sealing electrical boxes and pipe openings. A remote switch of some sort is a must. 3 hours to add 18 inches + of insulation in a 1200 sq. ft. house (18 bags). I added 10% for spills but there was very little waste, ended up returning a few bags. The machine worked very well and blew insulation in faster then anticipated. The loose fill does blow away if you are to close to the area being filled. Can tell the difference in how much less the furnace runs.

Worked great. The blower could have gone faster (it took 2x - 3x as long as I expected), but with my low roof, it was still a lot easier than rollingout batting (you need someone to load the blower - it's definately a 2 person job). Going between R49-R60 ended up saving me a lot of money since there was a significant discount for buying 30 of these plus a free rental (not sure how long that deal will last).

Took about 4 hours to blow in 30 bales of insulation, within just a few hours the house was noticeably warmer already. Took the R-value of what was already in the attic from less than R-10 to more than R-60, the system was simple and easy to use and the people we worked with at Home Depot were incredibly helpful. If you think you may need insulation in your attic, just do it, it’s worth it. The pink blow in insulation won’t break down on you and will hold it’s r-value for a very long time. Great product, great results.

I should have done this years ago. It took roughly 5-hours to blow in 30-bales of insulation in a 3,000+ sq.ft. single story house which brought the existing insulation in our 20+ year old house up to R-60. I highly recommend taking the time to carefully figure out beforehand your plan of attack since attics can be difficult to move around in. In our case I need to install a few 2x4s to make it easier (and safer) to crawl around. You also need to mark the level line goal with strips of duct tape. I also used our battery-powered blower to redistribute some of the existing insulation. Firstly to enable me to seal up all the top plate penetrations from the electrical wires (lots of air leaks). Second, the leaf blower allowed me to move insulation back into hard to reach areas of the attic so when I finally got the blower from HD the work would go quickly and safely. A couple of other tips; if you get 10-bags or more you get the machine for 24-hours free. Pick up the machine the evening before so you can be get everything ready to blow in the morning while the attic is cool. Once the sun hit our attic the temperature shoots up. Another reason to get it the day before is that the machines are in pretty rough shape. They do the job but you may need to fiddle around a bit to get things working like duct tape the hoses together, change the bag cutting blade or even return to the store to get the right hose. You don’t want to waste time in the cool morning running back to HD or getting the hoses untwisted and such. Last tip, get a whistle or an air horn to signal your loader with. My machine was missing the remote so I needed an effective way to signal the loader (my wife) to shut the machine off so I could reposition the hose, take a break, etc. Good luck. Enjoy.

I had my A/C and furnace replaced recently. 3.5 ton 16 seer unit. It is in my vented attic along with my duct work that was falling apart, so I got up there and replaced all the ducts with R8's. Made a huge difference, now that its colder up there I went and bought a $50 Great Stuff Pro foam gun and the cleaner solution, much needed to seal properly. Got up there moved the 4 inches of loose fill fiberglass around to find all the electrical holes, top plates, exhaust fans, pipes etc and foamed all of it. Sealing the living space from the attic. Also installed light switch and outlet foam gaskets. That helped with the exterior walls that I couldn't seal from the attic. I used my 3 fans in the house 2 bathroom and 1 kitchen to create a vacuum and walked around with a smoke pen to find leaks in the house at all of the opening windows, outlets, etc. I rented the atticat from home depot and filled up to 12-14 inches for R38 as I live in the south. I bought SmartBaffles for the eve vents and used 2 tall for all eve vents. These are what you need for existing house retrofitting. They are ridgid and easy to work with. Boxed off fireplace, hot water heater pipe etc. with the baffles also just cut them and foil tape to make boxes. There is no need for me to remove existing insulation as I was able to air seal by moving it around. All done up there, this is a DIY, if you are capable, just takes time, also have 2 solar powered only fans, so I needed to make sure the eve vents allowed more than enough air into the attic. Powered fans are fine if you have good house seal and enough air flow though eve vents. I sealed off the one ridge vent I had to allow air flow from eves. Also created barriers to stop insulation from going where it's not needed or wanted. That's my story. Took 2 people about 2 hours to blow 22 bags of atticat fill up to 14" loose fill. Made a huge difference inside the house.

Was easy to blow in and covered very well. Home noticeably quieter to outside noise.
