Hello KW, The R-23 UltraBatt is recommended for use in a 2x6 cavity. It will be difficult to compress the insulation and will reduce the products R-value. Thank you for your inquiry!
Owens Corning's regular binder Thermafiber® UltraBatt mineral wool insulation are manufactured with a binder that contains formaldehyde as an ingredient. During the manufacturing process, however, these products are cured at a very high temperature and virtually all of the binder formaldehyde is eliminated. The amount of formaldehyde in the finished product is less than 0.01% by weight. At this low level, and because we oven cure the product during manufacture, out-gassing of formaldehyde is extremely low and is not a significant source of formaldehyde when installed in a home or building. Thank you for your inquiry!
Hello Robert, Thermafiber UltraBatt would be acceptable to be used in the wall behind the stove. The UltraBatt can withstand temperatures of 2,000° Fahrenheit for excellent fire-resistance in critical areas. Thank you for your inquiry!

If you put osb sheathing, tyvek and siding, there is no need for additional vapor barrier on the inside. It is more important to air seal and apply Several coats of paint to finished interior walls. A vapor barrier on ceiling is a good idea if it is not vented, but that also needs to be completely air sealed inside and out
