Well, it would depend on your application (Music room, Living room, Office, Library). A Music room needing the least and moving to the right a Library needing the most. A good start, as well as likely the minimum needed, would be 1 per every 6 ft linear of wall. So a room 12 x 16 would require 2 panels on both the front and rear walls and then 3 panels on each of the side walls. From there it would depend on 'other' furnishings of the room, the intent of the room (as noted above), and then Listening. Coming up with a way to 'temporarily' place panels exactly where they intend to be is vital. I simply use a piece of 2x4 wood with either a rubber foot (wood floor) or piece of aggressive Velcro (carpeted floor) cut to the length needed to angle the 2x4 against the wall leaving a Ledge at the height for which you wish to place the panel. Then purchase the minimum panels as noted above + 1 extra panel per wall. Now evenly space (or for a Music room a more precise placement will Help) the minimum # of panels on each wall and take a good 30 min listen, then quickly remove all panels and listen again (you will likely NOT like what you hear and very much want all panels put back). Next add the 1 extra panel per wall and listen for another 30 mins and then quickly remove only the extra panels (you may like the extra panels removed as this will make the room a little more Lively -OR- you may once again say Wow, back those extra panels go). It really comes down to both Listening and playing with Placement, especially when we are specifically talking a Music/Home Theater room (for the other rooms listed above evenly spaced will likely work just fine). Ps. For a Music room one can live with the 2x4 setup for a week or two as different positions are experimented with, as well as with the Total # of panels used. Sure, a bit of a nuance for a week or two, but the end results through experimentation (i.e. Listening) is priceless, which is the REAL answer to your question after all :)
These are made just absorb the sound in the room so that it does not echo in the room. No do not attach anything to this board. It will ruin it.
Yes, just need to figure out how to secure them in place. It should work well.
These panels only work to reduce noise inside the room and will have little effect on sounds coming from outside. Mike
Its a 2-pack.
