Product Overview

The oz-deck foundations are an excellent method to secure a wood post for deck construction. The oz-deck are not only extremely fast to install but can also help prevent your wood post from premature rot that can occur with direct burial in the ground. The oz-deck foundation system provides the same strength and stability of conventional construction techniques with less labor and lower cost. Installation is easy; simply locate the oz-deck plates where your posts are required and drive the oz-post through them.
  • California residents
  • The jackhammer installation method makes installation fast and also compacts the soil beneath the oz-deck to prevent the oz-deck from settling over time
  • The revolutionary design of oz-deck allows them to be utilized in soft terrain and also in regions that are subjected to freeze thaw conditions
  • Oz-deck foundations have been independently tested with loads exceeding 6500 lbs
  • Designed to fit standard 4 x 4 posts (3-1/2 in. Square)

can they be used to build a floating deck on a sloped yard?

Asked by Chris September 4, 2019

Answers

Yes, we actually only recommend that you use our post anchors on a floating deck vs a deck attached to a house.

Can I use these to support a pergola. 4x4 posts, 8 ft tall.

Asked by Frenchy July 31, 2019

Answers

Yes, absolutely. A pergola has no wind lift, and the deck foundation sets would be perfect.

Can they be used on sloped ground (3feet slope on 12 feet span)

Hi Tobeit, this is a pretty complex question and there's a few other things that we need to know before we can answer this questions. Do you mind calling our customer service department at 469-916-7503. Thank you!

can these be set in concrete ?

Asked by Teddy November 8, 2018

Answers

The whole reason for using these post anchors is so that you don't need to dig a post hole and secure the post with concrete. The strength and stability associated with these anchors is directly tied to their design and being driven directly into the ground. Using concrete would be counter-productive and result in less strength and stability.

Do you have to use a jackhammer

Answer

Mark - It is recommended to use a 70 lb. jackhammer based upon feedback from various aged customers saying it save their back and arms. Thanks, OZCO

I read 1 review that said they were twisting. Was this due to hitting rocks or boulders

Asked by Jerry June 3, 2016

Answer

Twisting is usually directly associated with hitting, and trying to force through or around, an obstruction such as large rocks or root systems. While building my deck and fence, I ran into this issue twice. In one instance, I was able to dig out the rock and still use the anchor, and in the second instance I ended up securing the wood post with concrete. As far as handling the weight, that should not be any issue so long as you use the recommended spacing for strength and stability.

Will they heave from frost.

Answer

The anchors work as well as - if not better than - setting the posts in concrete. Unless you're unable to put the anchor in the ground securely you will not have any problems.

Bought 6 of these to drive in as post holders for a seasonal dock. Perhaps they are suitable for driving in to perfect, tilled and soft soil, but anything else results in a bent nose and twisted fins - resulting in something that will not drive in a straight direction. Drove 4 to get 2 usable in the dock location, then realized it was a waste to try the others and simply dug post holes and poured concrete the usual way. Tried the other 2 on the side of the road simply as a quick fix post holder for a mailbox that had been knocked askew...fortunately I needed only 1 as the first ended up as another twisted pretzel. Score - 3 for the scrap pile (once these twist the base plate is forever in position so the entire set is useless) and 3 that did make it in to place. Would not recommend to anyone. If your soil is soft enough for these to work, you can probably dig the post hole with a plastic spoon!

The installation of a privacy fence only took 2hrs using these Oz-Posts. Used an 8lb sledge hammer, a piece of 4x4 and some muscle help from my Brother-in-law to get 4 of these installed. As some reviews have claimed, one did start to turn during installation. Tried to use a clamp to turn it, but we got a little lazy and just let it go. A neighbor who witnessed part of the project has been telling others all about these ground posts. Note: did not use the deck anchors for this project. Going to try and return that portion of the order.

They were very easy to install. We used the jackhammer method. We are still in the process of building the deck, so far so good. If things change I will update the review.
