    Answer This Question

A:  This can only be used with stainless cinch clamp rings. It cannot be used for copper crimp rings.

A:  Yes, it only works with with stainless steel.

    by|Apr 10, 2019

A:  This tool only works with the stainless steel rings. The copper rings need a tool and it's attachments which make's it more compilated and more expensive. I hope this helps you. Good luck with your projects.

A:  If you mean the Apollo or Sharkbite brass PEX connectors like 90 degree elbows, yes it will. Just use the proper clamps for the application. If you are talking about just fitting a copper pipe over the PEX without the proper connectors, then no. Always use the proper connectors and clamps for the application. If you want to go from copper to PEX they do sell an adapter for that, then you would need this tool and the proper sizes clamps.

At 1/2 the price of every other crimp tool, one might expect inferior quality. Not so. These work well and are very effective for occasional use, especially since they enable repairs and installations that would cost hundreds for a plumber. My only complaint is that they are slightly clumsy for use by a single person - but if you have a helper to hold the crimp ring in place (or maybe a piece of tape) while starting the ratcheting action, they work great!

My experience seems to mirror others when it comes to this tool. It seems well made and performed good (the crimp didn't leak) but, the tool has to be fully opened to engage the clamp and that's a problem if space is limited. I had to replace a friend's frost free hose bib but the space between the floor and the top of the foundation wall precluded using the tool. I had to crimp a length of pex to the hose bib before slipping it thru the house wall and into the cellar so that it extended beyond the foundation wall and then connect to the supply line with a shark bite connector.

Easy to use. I have the Crimp ring tool but as I get older I am not strong enough to use it in overhead positions, so I bought this tool to use when I am not able to use that tool.
