Can they support aprox. 10 lbs, and can you install them vertically like a standard door?

Asked by FXSTSHARLEY January 31, 2021
1
Answer

I don’t believe a vertical use would work as it would put unsupported pressure on the rivets and they would break with time and gravity. As for weight it has not been tested for 10lbs.

I would like to use these hinges on a wall mounted baby changing table. Would these hinges suppor...

Answer

Hi, Thank you for considering the use of our hinge for the support of your most precious gift. Unfortunately our hinge has been designed for short panels. The the greater the depth of the panel the more weight and pressure will be felt on the outer edges. That is why you often use a combination solution and a chain or hydraulic arm that extends near the outer edge to provide the actual support. Please consult someone who is a trained engineer, as our product has not been tested for this use and we cannot give you any assurance.

Could these work for a heavy upswing door (30lbs) with the addition of gas struts?

Asked by PonyChone December 2, 2020
1
Answer

If the gas struts overcompensate for the weight (therefore, hold all the weight plus gravity pull) and you are only using these hinges to help guide the door up, they will work. If you are looking for these hinges to do any weight baring against gravity, they will fail as they were not designed for that purpose.

Would these hinges support a 26" cabinet door opening down or would the leverage/weight of that d...

Asked by BuilderBoyle October 1, 2020

Answer

The answer depends on the length of the door. The portion of the hinge that attaches to the door sits out about 3 inches...that 3 inches holds all the weight. If the door is very long outward, the two screws on the hinge are what are being stressed. If they are only 1/2" then it won't hold for a long and heavy table without additional weight distribution. It is designed for the false panel which is usually no longer the 6" outward. It has held longer but there are many variables and customers have added additional weight distribution like chain support. We hope this helps.

For the door that opens out then down and locks at 90 degrees like the picture in the product des...

Answer

This hinge requires your hand to open it to completion and close it to completion. It will stop when you stop or gravity takes over.

The description states (1 pair) does that mean two hinges are included?

Asked by Chuck April 26, 2020

Answers

Yes, two hinges and installation hardware.

Can these replace the broken ones that came with my hair tool storage for my false front?

Asked by Nancy February 29, 2020

Answer

Yes, this is a replacement part.

Is the metal Stainless Steel?

Asked by Sully September 6, 2019

Answer

No. The hinges are steel with a zinc coating.

making a table top and I want the legs to fold up when not using it - can I use these hinges

Asked by Greg January 8, 2019
1
Answer

Potentially depending on how you mount them and how much the legs weigh. I used them as a drop down drawer front and they seem to work well (but the drawer front only weights a few pounds) .

Is this hinges can be used for seat down bench door

Asked by Handyman September 3, 2018

Answer

The hinge is not designed to handle the weight of someone sitting on the base.

Our customer got a new slide-in oven that blocked one of their drawers with the handle. We were able to keep the drawer usable by separating the drawer box from the panel, putting the tip-outs on the drawer front and then reducing the width of the drawer box to clear the oven handle. This solution allowed us to avoid costlier options like modifying the solid surface counter/backsplash or ordering new door/drawer panels while still allowing our customer to use their drawer. Having a 90 degree tip-out allows us to keep a consistent look when it is closed, and the tip-out function allows the drawer front to open out of the way and allow for the drawer box to pull out. This was a great option to resolve a tricky problem.

Overall it worked out well. I had to replace two of the included screws intended for the lowest holes on each side with ones that were a little bigger as the hinges were sliding around slightly.

Response from Sales TeamAug 14, 2020
Hi Normand,

We are sorry to hear your experience was poor. To be honest, we have been producing this hinge for 13 years and this is the first time we've heard our thick gauge metal bent. You are welcome to send it back to us for any manufacturing defects and we will give you a refund. Feel free to contact us directly via our website to make those arrangements. We are definitely curious to see the bend.
