Does not hide anything!
Bought this to cover dark pink walls and it did absolutely nothing. It seems as if there is hardly any pigment in it at all. This photo is after 2 coats. Waste of $20 and my time!

    Death By 1,000 Coats
Absolutely miserable. I laughed in painful understanding for the review that said you might as well apply milk to your walls. This stuff is unbelievably thin. And to be called “ultra- HIDE” is just a cruel joke. They must use this somewhere as prison torture because I for one was losing my mind. It took me SIX full days to complete a single room because it required FIVE COATS to get the previous blue to stop showing through. It even took four coats to paint wood doors to pure white. Forget about trying to cover so much as a faint skid mark on an already white wall. That’ll also cost you 3-4 coats. Save yourself not only your time, but your sanity by buying a more expensive brand that will only take a single coat (in turn costing you much less in the end). And yes, I mixed this very thoroughly - with paint stick for a ridiculous 20 minutes straight because I thought it must just be me. No change. It’s truly that bad. Attached photo is of one full coat on a pale wood surface and drywall patch.

      Absolutely trash.
I bought this paint to cover and renew the paint on my trim. The trim was already white so I didnt think it would matter what brand but decided to go with PPG. Boy was that a mistake. I thought I was applying watered down milk to my trim. I figured I'd mix it again and shake it up. Same results. It doesnt cover even the slightest color difference. Pretty sure Id be better off brushing milk on my walls. Even when it dries it looks like flat.

        Worked great for us.
Reading these reviews scared me after we bought it. I used it to cover over sanded down black mirror mastiff from a large mirror we removed. 2 coats of dead flat white and we’re good. Don’t know what these other people are doing but worked great for our entire house ceilings and walls.

          Covers like skim milk
Dont waste your time/dime on this garbage. I replaced 14 6-panel doors in my house with the home depot primed special that is slightly off white. This paint didnt even cover the off white color with the first coat! It is runny like melted butter, it drips terribly, and covers nothing. Im going to try to get a refund tomorrow. I used glidden in the past, with 2 coat complete coverage (could almost get away with just one). I think this PPG paint will take an entire gallon just to cover one door. It sucks.

            Incredible, but use correctlt
I have been a lifelomg SW customer and have painted countless rooms. I just redid a ceiling (new recessed lights/renovation) and I used SW Eminence. It was bad. More expensive, streaky, not great coverage. I saw on youtube a recommendation for Glidden Ultra Hide, but it no longer exists because they were bought by PPG. This paint is the variation of that. It is AMAZING FOR CEILINGS!! It truly is dead flat. I primed the ceiling with Zinsser 123, did touch ups and a fine sanding in between each coat, then 2 coats of this on top of the primer rolled in different directions (i.e. roll primer and first coat East to West, 2nd coat North to South...fine sand between each coat). You will have a perfect, professional ceiling and the gallon is only 16 bucks. Buy a gallon per room and have them shake it up at HD right before you paint. Its the little tricks. I would never attempt to use this on doors, trim, or even walls. This is dead flat paint, it has no sheen. You want at least a semi gloss on doors/trim, and depending on traffic areas, at least a matte or eggshell in rooms. This is 100% perfect for ceilings, though I would be cardful for bathrooms and maybe kitchens due to moisture (not great for dead flat paint). Dead flat paint basically cant be cleaned! So think of that before you use it in a room.

Great Paint. Make sure it’s enough...
Everything about my experience with my PPG Satin Ultra-Hide Zero paint was great. My only complaint is that it’s advertised as 5gal when it’s actually 4.84gal. You can see why in the attached picture. Had I actually gotten 5gallons I’d have been able to finish painting my garage. However, in the same photo you’ll get a great before and after look. I don’t know when it was last painted but I’m happy to say it looks new again.

Coverage was good, color was good, and it hid stains...
Coverage was good, color was good, and it hid stains and discoloration as best as I could ha E asked for with no priming and one coat only. I sprayed it with a Graco Magnum Project Painter Plus, 514 FFLP tip, and results were great. Definitely would use this product again. And will when I paint the rest of my house ceiling.
