Will it thrive in zone 9b

Asked by Patti December 15, 2020

Hello Patti, Thank you for reaching out to us. Our Bobo Hardy Hydrangea is hardy in zones 3-8. Our Bobo Hydrangea will likely not perform as well as it could in optimal growing conditions or may not survive in zone 9. Check out our Gatsby Star Oakleaf Hydrangea for wonderful substitution hydrangea that will be hardy in your zone. I hope this helps! If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to us at helpdesk@provenwinnersdirect.com or 734-654-7485. Kind regards, Tabatha

Canni plant thrse in the fall?

Asked by SamB August 28, 2020

Answers

Depends on: If you have it in the pot now and need just to put it into the ground, then prepare hole big enough according to planting instructions and you can plant it anytime as is as you get it out of the pot . Water well till the plant get used to new location. If your plant is large or you want relocate it from another place, I would wait till it sheds all leaves; ones it's ready for "hybernation", then you can plant it anytime until the ground freezes (same as other trees and shrubs). You would be surprise, how hardy this plant is.

Are the shrubs guaranteed?

Asked by Jean August 2, 2020

Yes / No Mine did not look very good last year when I got them in late spring.I am in SC where it is very hot and they certainly have no issues with a winter here. (rarely lower than 32) I had been approached by the provider asking detail questions because I gave a not so great review. I just let it go after some discussions. They did not die but were slow to flower and small. This year however they are 2 to 3 feet tall 2-3 wide and beautiful. Extremely healthy. And doing better than 2 expensive ones bought in the actual store last year different provider. So the provider will communicate with you. And even if they aren't great the 1st year as long as you are in a valid zone for the plant they are great. They are worth it.

Will this plant be okey in states of New Jersey and new york

Asked by Megatron May 23, 2020

Answers

Yes, Bobo is perfect for NY and NJ. It's tolerant to zone 3, which is very cold hardy. Most of NY and NJ don't get that cold, but check to make sure you're not zone 2 or 1 (I doubt you are). Most of NY and NJ are zone 5 - 6.

How big is one gallon? Will they have bloom on them this year

Asked by Sam April 29, 2020

Answers

Just received mine today and it's in bloom now. Beautiful, full, and healthy. The one gallon is deceptive. I did not expect this big of a plant in a one gallon container, but it was a far larger bush than two other varieties that I bought in 2.25 gallon pots. Go figure.

Will this type of hydrangea grow well on a sloped hill?

Asked by BeckyLynn April 16, 2020

Hi BeckyLynn, Yes, Bobo Hydrangea can be planted on a slope. It stands upright on strong stems. Be sure to plant into the side of the slope, so the plant is not angled. If you have any questions on how to achieve this please feel free to contact us here at Proven Winners Direct (734) 654-7485 or helpdesk@provenwinnersdirect.com Kind Regards, Shae

What Size of container should I plant this 1gallon bobo hydrangea in?

Answer

Hi CMOM, What a great choice, these are perfect in a container! Our Bobo Panicle Hydrangea has a mature growth rate of 3ft tall and 4ft wide. We recommend a container that is a couple inches larger than the current plant size. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact us at 734-654-7485 or helpdesk@provenwinnersdirect.com. Happy Planting, Tabatha

I have a few hydrangeas growing throughout my property but no pure white ones so I am excited to see this one grow and bloom. It was a bit dry when I got it so I watered and fertilized it good and within 3 days it began to show improvement and a few sprouts of new growth. I planted it close to my front porch among the newly planted grass seed to have a more beautiful display when entering and exiting my home and I know I will be pleased once it blooms.

Arrived dormant in perfect shape
The nursery gave me a phone call, that my hydrangea plant is dormant and will be shipped on 2-25. I felt relieved, because ground here was covered with 2 feet of snow. The plant arrived as said together with other plant in very sturdy carton box with openings. Hydrangea was potted with cardboard protective collar on top of the pot.The soil in the pot was slightly damp. Plant was very well protected against possible damage during shipping and arrived in perfect condition. Upon receiving plant I checked it carefully and nothing looks to be dry or otherwise damaged. I kept plant in non heated room and as soon nights with single digit temperatures were over, I put potted hydrangea outside on the porch, where it stays until all snow melts and I will be able to plant it into the ground.

Dear MeCzech,
Thank you for letting us know all is well with your hydrangea and for letting others know that our hydrangeas will arrive in a dormant "sleeping" state when ordered in the winter/early spring months. You took care of your plant perfectly and will enjoy many years to come with your Bobo Hydrangea in your landscape!
Happy Gardening!

This plant was chosen because it has the nickname my niece had for her grandmother (now deceased). It will be a reminder of her as it blooms and highlights the front yard of purple and lavender flowers in remembrance of my sister. Like the other plants from your nursery it held up well in travel and delayed planting.
